StashAway Hiring for Compliance Manager (MENA) Job at Dubai Full Time

You are part of the Company’s second line of defence to support the business in ensuring compliance with applicable local laws, regulations and internal policies, and in mitigating all forms of risks.

With oversight from the Head of Compliance in Singapore, this role will be the primary compliance support for the United Arab Emirates entity, providing compliance and regulatory advisory on an ongoing basis including advice on relevant Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and UAE Federal (Financial Crime-related) regulatory requirements and managing regulatory reporting needs.

In addition to local responsibilities, with oversight from Chief Compliance & Risk Officer at the Group level, this role will also provide day-to-day advisory and support for the Group’s Compliance department on product developments, regulatory developments, enhancing group policies, procedures and guidelines, and assist in complying with and implementing new regulatory requirements that are applicable.

Responsibilities

• You will be responsible to develop and implement a scalable regulatory framework across second-line compliance responsibilities to ensure SAME meets its regulatory and license obligations.
• Act as the key liaison officer between SAME and DFSA and provide regulatory advice and recommendations to the local and the Group business teams.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes/new regulatory developments and industry best practices in DIFC and disseminate the same to the local and Group compliance teams and business.
• Implement the compliance plan and ongoing compliance monitoring programme for the UAE business aligned to the Group Plan.
• Manage the fulfillment of License requirements including the filing of applications to manage authorised individual status or financial services activities, reporting and regulatory liaison of all licensing and regulatory matters.
• Responsible for overseeing the compliance risks for MENA and implementing the compliance policies and procedures for the local business.
• Acting as the Firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) with the DFSA, support the Firm’s Financial Crime framework (including AML and Sanctions) and systems in or from the DIFC.
• Establishing and updating the AML policies, procedures, systems and controls and responsible for reviewing and reporting suspicions.
• Developing and delivering training programs and managing communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 5-6 years of combined working experience in Compliance function including a traditional financial institution (asset management company, securities company, bank) or regulatory/advisory function in an audit or legal firm, or regulatory/compliance advisory function in a consulting firm or FinTech company.

• Degree in Law, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or other closely related professional qualifications
• Good understanding and interest in the FinTech space and emerging regulatory scenario
• Good knowledge of Anti-money laundering requirements and wealth management practices
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, and multicultural awareness
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability for regulatory advocacy
• Desire to work in a lean start-up & scale-up environment that empowers personal accountability
• Strong ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written)
