Implementing and continuously improving the management of asset risks starts with formalised maintenance planning and the production of Annual Asset Management Plan and Technical Maintenance Plans (TMPs).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Establish, manage and continuously improve Asset Criticality and Risk Aassessment strategies and processes. Lead the Criticality and Risk assessment of Rail networks systems and assets. Identify and assess risks associated with 3rd party suppliers, partners, technologies, solutions, as well as their impact on the business operations and objectives. Communicate the criticality of certain risk elements and facilitate the understanding of a big picture view of risk profiles. Develop Asset Class Strategies based on asset condition, criticality and risk assessment to optimize the maintenance regime and minimize the asset life cycle cost. Responsible for the collaboration with project teams, delivery organizations, product companies and stakeholders on the on-going understanding of emerging risks and impact. Define reliability improvement programs on specific assets at risk. Implement a risk escalation process that ensures key risks are escalated to the right management level. Deliver timely and concise communication, including developing and producing management reports, illustrating status, trends, and action plans. Participate in the overall organization risk management process and be the subject matter expert of all asset risk exposures. Apply quantitative measures whenever possible or applicable to help the understanding of risks and impacts. Participate in Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) workshops. Participate in Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis / Event Tree Analysis. Prepare/contribute to safety assurance documentation: Safety Plans, Safety Cases, Hazard Reports, System Definitions. Prepare/contribute to safety assurance documentation: Reliability Availability and Maintainability (RAM) Plans, RAM Analyses and other reliability assurance documentation. Perform Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), consequence analysis and/or dispersion modelling.

KEY SKILLS Experience as a Senior System Safety and Reliability / Risk Engineer with the rail sector. Knowledge of Engineering Safety Management and experience of applying the Common Safety Method, Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS) and BS EN50126, 50128 and 50129 for RAM. Working knowledge and able to develop safety risk and reliability models using Reliability Block Diagrams, Fault Trees and Event Trees. Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) using a variety of techniques. Proficient with the MS Office suite; specific experience with data using Excel and Access.

EXPERIENCE Must have minimum 5 years’ experience may be considered for this role. Rail industry experience will be added value. Knowledge of Engineering Safety Management and experience of applying the Common Safety Method, Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS) and BS EN50126, 50128 and 50129 for RAM, ISO 31000. Working knowledge and able to develop safety risk and reliability models using Reliability Block Diagrams, Fault Trees and Event Trees. Have experience with a major governance, risk and compliance tools.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFCATION Must have at least bachelors degree in STEM discipline or in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering.
