GFG Hiring for Carbon Accounting Senior Specialist Job at Dubai Full Time

Position Summary
Decarbonizing steel is perhaps one of the biggest challenges we face in line with Paris Agreement. GFG Alliance is looking for an autonomous, experienced, purpose driven senior Carbon Accounting specialist, to join and materially contribute to our Carbon Neutrality Journey (CN30). Based in Dubai and reporting to the Head of Carbon in the Chairman’s Industrial Planning Office, you will be collaborating locally and internationally, with Environmental teams, Engineering, Climate Risk and Governance, M&A, Commercial teams and Procurement to standardize and simplify net zero/carbon accounting applied to transformation and transition to low carbon and green steel, energy management and supply chain impact.
Job Responsibilities

• Support in the standardization and improvement processes of carbon accounting across the company
• Support in the validation of CAPEX and OPEX investments, by assessing projects impact in Scope 1, 2 and 3, considering cross-border impact
• Present to Senior leadership, overall impact assessment on carbon emissions.
• Conduct research on climate-focused standards, frameworks, and regulations (e.g., ISSB/SASB, TCFD, SBTi, CDP, specific local regulations)
• Support with the consolidation of EPD integration across multiple companies across the group.
• Participate in executive meetings
• Support the business positioning in the low carbon / green steel segment
• Develop, test and maintain data collection processes
• Participate in data strategy digitalization / consolidation projects as the carbon management expert
• Participate actively in upskilling the global environment teams and Project planning teams on carbon accounting and reporting

Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Carbon Accounting, including scope 3
• Hands-on experience with carbon accounting and management for enterprises, GHG Protocol and emissions calculations. Experience in detailed Life Cycle Analysis beneficial.
• Results driven, with a high degree of autonomy and strategic thinking.
• Knowledge of main climate frameworks and International Regulations
• Industry experience in manufacturing, retail, logistics, utilities.
• Familiar with digital solutions and technologies related to carbon accounting.
• Bachelor or engineering degree subject with a sustainability component (environmental science, industrial ecology, sustainability economy, environmental engineering, etc.).
• Experience in strategy and/or management consulting as hands-on advisor.
• Experience with Data visualization software (Power B, Python, R, etc)
• Experience in process mapping and Project management
