Role Purpose:
Oversee the technical operations of the imaging department.
Maintain duty rosters for radiology and admin support staffs and ensure optimal staff deployment on a daily basis.
Have detailed technical knowledge of all imaging modalities and be able to troubleshoot challenges as they arise.
Perform the role of Radiation Protection Officer and ensure optimal clinical care and safety of staffs and patients with respect to exposure to radiation.
Work within a multidisciplinary team with a personalised and caring attitude.
Participate in public health awareness initiatives and in training programs as required.
Main Accountabilities:
Role Specific
By means of a thorough, comprehensive and holistic assessment, oversees and as required, renders imaging modalities in both inpatient and outpatient settings, using an evidence-based approach in keeping with generally accepted standards for the profession.
Particular attention should be taken to ensure correct patient positioning based on knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and optimal equipment settings, to obtain images of the highest standards for accurate assessment and reporting and avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
He/she is responsible for operational safety within the department ensuring the staffs establish order and cleanliness in the working area and maintain equipment in good working order. There should be timely reporting of deficiencies to the biomedical team.
As Radiation Safety Officer:
Provides regular updates to the staffs and the Radiation Committee on regulations and guidelines as released through the DHA and Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR).
Reviews and updates as required, all radiation safety policies.
Monitors regularly the individual staff dosimeters.
Monitors and logs the serviceability of all radiation units in the department and reports faults to the biomedical team in a timely way.
Is the co-chair of the Radiation Safety Committee
He/she should possess good communication skills in order to direct patients through the required steps for the planned examination and minimise patient anxiety.
He/she is responsible for the provision of daytime and after-hours services for elective and emergency admissions during evenings, nights, holidays, weekends and contractual leave periods.
Ensures there is a consistent, accurate and detailed documentation of patient encounters as per policy.
Such other duties as are reasonably requested by the Head of Directorate or Chief Medical Officer.

Education:
Bachelor’s
Master’s in Radiology Certifications
BLS
Radiation Protection Certificate Experience & License
Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in all imaging modalities and specialist skills in CT or MRI
Previous managerial role for a minimum of one year.
License to practice from the UAE Health Authority(MOH DOH DHCC DHA)
