Job Description

Job Summary:
An AC mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning systems. They must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot problems with various types of air conditioning units and recommend the best course of action to repair them. AC mechanics must be knowledgeable in HVAC systems, electrical systems, and refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning units and systems.
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with air conditioning units and recommend the best course of action for repair.
Repair or replace defective components such as compressors, motors, coils, and fans.
Perform preventive maintenance on air conditioning systems to ensure they are functioning efficiently.
Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers to control air conditioning units.
Interpret and follow technical manuals, schematics, and drawings to properly diagnose and repair units.
Keep accurate and detailed records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Respond to emergency service calls and provide prompt and efficient service.
Maintain a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service at all times.

Candidate Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Vocational training or apprenticeship in HVAC or a related field.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and refrigeration systems.
Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with air conditioning units.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and parts.
Good vision, hearing, and coordination.
Working Conditions:

Work primarily indoors, but may be required to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
May be required to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.
May be required to work in tight or cramped spaces.
May be exposed to hazardous materials, including refrigerants and chemicals.
