We are seeking a Senior Transport Planner and Modeller who has excellent transport planning skills and the ambition to grow these as part of a Dubai based Transport Planning team and provide additional support to the broader Planning team in Dubai, and by extension assist the broader Arup office, helping them support project work across the Middle East.

Role

As a Senior Transport Planner/Modeller, you will be:

• Undertaking traffic analysis and transport modelling studies
• Undertaking transit planning and operations analysis and intermodal planning and design
• Preparing calculations, drawings, programmes and cost estimates for specific jobs
• Project and team administration duties
• Producing project related correspondence, reports, and presentations
• Working directly with clients and other professionals with minimal supervision

Requirements and skills

The ideal candidate shall be expected to have/meet the following specific job requirements:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering with specialty in Transportation or related field with a minimum of seven (7) years post graduate work experience. Master’s degree in transport planning is a plus
• Work experience in the Middle East is a must (mainly in the UAE and KSA) with proven knowledge and experience of local transport context, local transport planning and modelling guidelines (TIS, TMPs) and codes
• Possessing analytical and transport modelling skills. Experience in using industry standard software including VISUM and CUBE is essential in addition to SYNCHRO, SIDRA, & HCS (VISSIM experience is a plus), GIS, Python, & VBA
• Experience in the Abu Dhabi transport model (STEAM) and Dubai transport model (DSTM) is essential
• Experience in big data analytics and the use of latest tools is an advantage and the candidate must be passionate about developing these skills
• Knowledge and experience of implementing active travel strategies and policies, and interest in future mobility and trends is an added value
• Solid understanding of the fundamentals of traffic engineering analysis and design is a great advantage
• Able to demonstrate success in delivering high quality analytical and qualitative analysis and research
• Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment
• Able to support developing successful client relationships
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential
• Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
• Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges
• Ability to communicate effectively complex issues associated with transport planning and design projects
• Proven ability to write reports, proposals, letters and emails to clients
• Ability to manage projects of suitable size, people and meeting clients
• Assisting in/or delivering projects for government and local developer clients
• Assisting in preparing bids and developing client relationships
