The American University in the Emirates is currently looking for an active Academic Research Assistant

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s Degree holder, Preferably Ph.D. holder

• Active Researcher with strong background in Academic Research, Grants, Patents and Publications

• Experience with supporting students with Research

• 6 years’ experience in an administrative role

• Ability to multi-task

• Bilingual mandatory

• Very high degree of independence, responsibility and judgment.

• Knowledge of academic / administrative programs, students’ policies and procedures.

• Maintains a professional image and relationships with faculty / students and all clients.

• Must maintain confidentiality.

• Accountable for the smooth running of the office, with all administrative responsibilities and tasks.

• Effectively resolves daily matters independently.

Job Description

1. Assists in planning and organizing the yearly schedule for the academic division.

2. Participates in formulating and administering policies and implementing the academic division goals and objectives

3. Reviews and analyses metrics of activities, operations and budget to determine the academic division progress toward stated goals and objectives

4. Reviews proposals, licenses and contracts associated with respective academic division

5. Assist the Academic Officer in Faculty Development, recruitment, retention follow up and documentation

6. Representing the Academic Officer, as appropriate, in resolving problems and complaints from faculty and staff

7. Responding to daily requests for the Academic Officer’s assistance in handling inquiries, correspondence, complaints, and human resource matters, and/or compiling, analyzing data for administrative decisions

8. Assisting in establishing priorities and agendas, strategic planning, accreditation, and issues of importance and sensitivity, and producing briefing materials and information on all significant matters which require the Academic Officer’s attention

9. Manage the AUE SharePoint as the primary source of information and academic planning collaboration
