+ Take lead on multiple complex urban design and strategic planning projects and lead key client key accounts.
+ Plan and conduct design and creative review sessions for ongoing projects and competitions.
+ Contribute to the recruitment process to fill in gaps in skills and resources
+ Maintain diversity in the workforce and promote equal growth opportunities between Urban designer in terms of leading projects and managing teams.
+ Lead on thought leaderships presentation and design dialogues for benefit of wider team.
+ Challenges applicable urban design norms and guidelines but also reinforce and strengthen project teams ideas for implementation and further consideration.
+ Lead studio design ethos discussions and design drivers.
+ Steer and define projects innovative visions in line with the studio ethos, the site potentials and the project brief.
+ Maintain quality across the various urban design project deliverables from design concepts to graphics. Protect brand through graphics style and deliverables quality.
+ Help staff develop additional skillsets and experience on projects and in the studio.
+ Present clearly design ideas internally and externally with clear narrative.
+ Bridge between delivering design ideas and delivering to budget. Understand client objectives and steer design thinking accordingly.
+ Facilitate the implementation of innovative urban design attributes and solutions and provide tools and resources to the team to do so.
+ Facilitate the use of new innovative digital tools in urban design projects and lead on identifying internal research and development topics.
+ Drive direct reports to embrace digital transformation and innovation.
+ Lead and facilitate key client workshops and board of directors/CEO’s presentations.
+ Manage urban design bids and proposals and establish winning themes and defining differentiators.
+ Understand pricing and qualification aspects and establish price winning strategies.
+ Maintain performance of resources and projects KPI’s and establish means and ways to enhance performance.
+ Ensure appropriate utilization of staff skillset and time across projects and bids.
+ Contribute to the short term and long-term resource planning by managing projects resource requirement and coordinate/resolve with other peers’ conflicts.
+ Be an ambassador of safety procedure in the office and outside office and provide staff with support where needed at personal level.
+ Manage people career path and growth and establish plans for short- and long-term development goals.
Minimum Requirements
14+ years’ experience in the Urban Design field, candidates would ideally have worked on government and private sector projects. Management experience is required as the successful candidate would lead a multi-disciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Architecture or Urban Design. Masters degree preferred. Professional membership in Urban Design or Architecture e.g. RIBA or equivalent required.
