Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currenly recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to strengthen our team in Dubai.
Lead and manage the mechanical engineering and design of Rotating and Static package equipment, involves rehabilitation, green and brown field engineering.
Single-point responsibility for all Mechanical Rotating and Static package equipment deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures.
Ensure that the overall project is delivered to meet the asset operational needs
Provide direction and guidance on all technical queries relating to process engineering.
Participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary.
Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
Liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
To promote safe behaviour at all times.
Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up.
Provide technical support to site in terms of material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing, etc.
Assist in the coordination of all activities related to rotating and static equipment packages.
Identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required.
Attend weekly progress meetings and generate status reports for the Engineering Manager
Skills / Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng./M.Sc.)
Membership of a recognised professional institute preferred
Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry
Minimum of 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company
Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
Experience with Sour Service Operations would be an advantage.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Rotating ( Including process gas compressors ( Centrifugal / Reciprocating / Screw type), Gas turbines, High energy pumps etc) and Static package equipment design and analysis ( Including fitness for service assessment, contactors, pressure vessels, Heat Exchangers, Storage tanks and complex packages viz Gas Dehydration package etc).
Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards
Familiar with the typical software packages that are used for Rotating and Static package equipment design and selection
Experience of participation in HAZOP, HAZID and SIL Rating studies.
Experience with Concept Selection and FEED studies.
Extensive experience with piping design for modular, skid packaged equipment.
