Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• As a Consulting Architect, you hold responsibility for gathering and vetting customer requirements to create an architectural design consisting of virtual infrastructure, configuration recommendations and planning, and identification of deployment validation processes and procedures.
• You will acquire intimate knowledge of the customers’ business and its strategic goals and use your in-depth knowledge of VMware Virtual Infrastructure Deployment, Management & Administration to work with sales, pre-sales, and customers on building successful delivery roadmaps.
• You will be demonstrating the technical abilities of the consulting team you lead, and drive a solution that assists the customer in achieving their business goals and outcomes.
• You are a solution level subject matter expert with broad knowledge across the VMware technology stack and of 3rd party integrated products.
• In addition to customer facing delivery, you will also provide key input to pre-sales on specific discipline bids and drive best practices.
• Within the first 45 days of employment, you will go through a great onboarding experience from VMware and be given the tools you will need to get yourself geared up for the role. This will also be the time that you will be given your first project to engage in and start your customer-centric journey
• Within 90 days of employment, you will be expected to take full ownership of business outcomes, lead technical project teams and take accountability for all project deliverables further developing your documentation, technical writing, interpersonal and leadership skills.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Articulate solution design, integrating both technical and business concepts, and present a transformational journey to project stakeholders.
• Work with Project Managers to create project plans with realistic work stream timelines.
• Manage technical governance for the end-to-end solutions
• Gather use case requirements and create high and low-level enterprise designs while functioning as a resource for “Best Practices” and driving adoption of VMware solutions.
• Maintain current, high-level technical knowledge of the entire VMware product line and future product direction and expert level knowledge of the core VMware product line and your specialist area
• Ensure the solution being delivered is fit for purpose, referencing the initial business goals and objectives of the project through strong project governance
• Actively demonstrate commercial awareness and stay within the scope of the contracted work.
• Use your VCP (VMware Certified Professional) and your IT architecture certifications to deliver IT automation and cross-cloud solutions.
• Assist in the development of our consulting service offerings as well as developing white papers and best practices
• Must enjoy working with leading edge technology and being an intrinsic part of a fantastic team
• Speaking and writing and English fluently with Arabic as an added advantage

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring manager is Andrew Siaotong, Senior Manager PS Delivery METNA. He currently leads a team of Staff/Consulting Architects distributed across the METNA region. Andrew has over 20+ years of Information Technology experience gained principally within multinational companies across Asia and the Middle East. An executive with a proven track record of having successfully led many large and small geographically dispersed teams in both blue chip and start-up organizations. He is a customer-focused and results driven leader with a passion for the IT services business.

He strongly believes in the power of Diversity & Inclusion and on the EPIC2 VMware values. He also encourages and promote a psychologically safe environment where team members can be freely vocal and collaboratively share their ideas, views, comments and feedback without worrying about repercussions.

The team is composed of Staff/Consulting Architects based across the METNA region (specially in Turkey, Egypt, UAE and Qatar). The team works flexible hours and location, arranging schedules to fit their needs and taking consideration the customers’ needs together with the personal work-life-balance.

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The location of this role is flexible primarily within Qatar and secondary in within the UAE. Work will be done from an office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware building.
