About the Position

UOWD is seeking applications from candidates to fill the position of Financial Accountant.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Accountant will make an important contribution to the University’s mission by providing financial accounting support . The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of UOWD’s financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, financial and management accounts driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Responsible for the preparation of the financial statements for UOWD in compliance with the relevant regulations
• Review all general ledgers including balance sheet reconciliations and technical review of postings. Sign off journals including checking coding for period / year end accuracy
• Ensure the timely posting of journals and preparation of bank reconciliations and other control accounts
• Assist the Head of Finance to ensure that month end tasks are completed within deadline to facilitate timely management reporting
• Maintain weekly / monthly cashflows recording cash movements and projecting cash balances for a rolling 12 month period. Advise the Head of Finance of actions required in relation to any projected surplus / deficit funds
• Complete the quarterly VAT return
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register ensuring all additions and deletions are recorded in line with policy and in a timely manner

Qualifications

Essential:

• Undergraduate Degree
• Professional Accounting Qualification e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA
• 5+ years financial accounting experience in a large / complex organisation
• A solid understanding of IFRS’s
• Solid analytical and decision-making skills

Desirable:

• Education sector experience
• Knowledge and experience in using Oracle

Remuneration and Benefits

The successful candidates will receive a remuneration package which includes an attractive tax free salary ranging from AED 180,000 – AED 204,000 per annum, 25 working days of paid leave per year, annual air ticket for staff and eligible dependents, private medical insurance for staff and eligible dependents, life & disability policy for staff, professional development assistance, education allowance for up to 3 eligible children and professional development.
