Job Summary
This position is responsible to plan and coordinate Continuing Education (CE) workshops for dentists and dental professionals in Saskatchewan. The incumbent, with direction from the CE faculty representative and the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CDSS) CE Committee, will draw upon the expertise and skill of specialty faculty at the College of Dentistry as well as other specialists and presenters from across Saskatchewan, Canada, and North America to present timely and relevant Continuing Education courses.
Nature of Work
Reporting to the Dean or designate, this position is responsible for coordinating regular continuing education workshops for dentists and dental auxiliaries. With input, direction, and assistance from the CDSS CE Committee, the Coordinator will prepare an annual plan of CE courses (12 to 20 per year), with consideration being given to reasonable representation from different dental disciplines, course delivery to multiple locations within the province of Saskatchewan, and timeliness of topics given current dental research.
The Continuing Professional Education Coordinator will work with minimal supervision in a variety of work settings, on and off campus, although they must maintain close working relationships with their supervisory team. Travel is required, as well as regular evening and weekend work.
Accountabilities
With the assistance of the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan, plan, coordinate, and promote relevant Continuing Education workshops for dentists and other dental professionals. Arrange venue planning and coordinate such events. Manage event registration and receipt of payments. Be on-site during CE event to ensure smooth operation. Prepare event summaries and financial reports for each workshop.

Qualifications
Successful completion of Grade 12 and a recognized post-secondary Office Administrative Assistant program. A combination of relevant education and work experience may be considered.
Experience
Minimum five years of experience in planning CE events or conference/convention/event planning, including working directly with hotels, food service industry, and/or post-secondary institutions to deliver space and meal planning. A detailed understanding of Dentistry and its various disciplines and experience in a dental practice would be an asset. Familiarity with the University of Saskatchewan environment, policies and practices would also be considered beneficial.
