• Involved in daily plant activities, managing personnel and contractors with direct reporting to country manager. Appointed as responsible person for 400MW site. This is a legal appointment to ensure the OHS act is complied with and the site meets all legal requirements. Daily planning and feedback meeting with staff and contractors. Plan daily work and keep update on maintenance progress. Make sure all Health and Safety files are updated. Responsible for health and safety on site and make sure contractors adhere to regulations. Monitor environment and vegetation control. Make sure everybody on site adhere to protective clothing regulations.
• Accept full responsibility of O&M budget. Managing budget and purchase requests. Ensure that budget stays within required margins. Manage and approve invoicing process in cooperation with finance department. Managing plant availability and outages on a daily basis. Monitor performance and factors affecting performance of the plant. Implement action plans to minimize performance losses. Managing personnel on daily basis. Regular inputs and updates to management teams. Taking part actively in O&M and external contractual meetings.
• Prepare monthly client meetings and present maintenance activities to client. Deliver all contractual reports to client timeously. Ensure adherence to all contractual obligations. Keep up to date with contractual time lines and requirements. Contractual amendments to be discussed with client. Regular monthly client meetings plus monthly reports. Reporting on O&M activities & delivering maintenance reports with inspection sheets.
• Make sure technicians follow maintenance schedule – review schedule regularly to update procedure. Ensure all maintenance activities are captured on CMMS system. Attend to emergency breakdowns and implement corrective measures. Managing PV & O&M technicians. Provide training & mentorship. Assist technicians with fault finding and investigations. Follow 8D process to investigate faults, draw conclusions and implement remedial action. Input to third party investigations and consulting engineer’s investigations. Quality inspections: Inspect contractor work for sign off. Monitor maintenance and quality of maintenance on regular basis. Make sure plant is operated within design limitations – all equipment in serviceable condition
• Fault finding on SCADA network – Previous knowledge of fiber optic networks.
• Be sure that spare parts are within contractual limits. Make sure spare parts are available & in good condition.
• Ensure all test equipment are in working condition and calibration certificates up to date. Renew all contracts timeously. Update contracts and approve scope of work. Be part of subcontractor interview and appointment process. Regular contact with utility personnel regarding outages & Remote Operation & Control Centre regarding plant monitoring & alarms.
• Prepare switching orders for technicians and review switching orders submitted by technicians. Be responsible for switching activities on site, maintenance and monitoring of all high voltage equipment up to 132 kV. Substation equipment including Main transformer, Filter bank, Collector circuits and Scada Grid Controller. Evaluating PV technicians to do high voltage switching up to 132 kV. Inverter & DC array maintenance: Fault finding experience on inverters and DC generators will be to your advantage.

The position involves coordination with RENINT MEA, RENINT Central and RENINT Central operation functions such as HSE, legal, finance, HR, REN Ops, OT Customer / Technical / Project Lines, etc.

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering / B-Tech / N6 with Maths, Electro Tech, Industrial Electronics
• Comfortable with numbers and mathematics to perform calculations for reporting
• Electrical experience – preferred up to 132kV plus substation protection
• Advanced analytical and technical skills and knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as instrumentation and test equipment.
• Ability to read single line and electrical drawings.
• Operating Regulations For High Voltage Systems (ORHVS) for Authorized persons.
• Drivers license
• Previous experience in personnel management
