Job Purpose: The Safety Specialist will provide specialist safety direction, advice and support to the businesses. This role is a leadership role to support the development, implementation and improvement of safety compliance, performance and culture within the Divisions. Job Outline: Generic: – Identifies gaps and supports/ develops intervention plans where safety performance is not at an acceptable level – Develop lessons learned for specific action implementation and continuous improvement – Project management of safety specific initiatives – Supports/Leads businesses on implementation of safety priorities and associated programmes and campaigns – Supports/ Leads the development of Business level safety KPIs – Coach and mentor safety professionals and business leaders across the business – Drives cultural improvement through interactions with the business – Facilitates rollout and implementation plans of IMS, safety, risk, standards and procedures – Lead or facilitate implementation of intervention plans with specific business based on safety performance improvements – Monitors the business implementation effectiveness of safety aspects, programmes and campaigns – Review implementation effectiveness of lessons learned actions – Attend and contribute to Business Safety Boards and Safety Action Groups as required support the reviews, analyses and reporting of safety performance dnata Safety: – Develops centralised strategies, standards, procedures and other associated material to support the Integrated Management System (IMS) (safety) implementation within dnata – Develops implementation plans for safety related HSE department priorities – Development of critical control review process and schedule – Development of safety inspections and audits – Implementation of critical control review schedule and improvement plans as required – Coordinate safety inspections and audits – Reviews the implementation effectiveness of safety priorities including, risk management, STOP observation programme, incident management and hearts and minds programme – Oversees and adjusts effectiveness of critical controls and intervention plans
Qualifications & Experience: – Diploma or Degree in Safety management or equivalent combination of education and experience – Member of a recognised industry association is desirable – Experience: 8-10 years of experience in a Safety Management role in aviation, heavy industry such as oil & gas, mining, energy, construction or logistics with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role Experience and core skills – Previous International experience – Previous Cargo and Aircraft ground handling experience – Advanced planning and organising skills – Advanced leadership and coaching skills – Advanced communication skills – Advanced analytical skills – Advanced writing skills – Advanced computer and IT literacy – Advanced knowledge of database management – Advanced in safety management knowledge – Advanced incident management and investigation skills – Advanced risk management and hazard identification skills – Advanced knowledge of IATA (ISAGO), ICAO, ISO and legislative frameworks – Advanced understanding of the contractor management process with regards to safety Required to travel 50% of the time
