Job Purpose: Lead investigation in safety related incident in liaison with Group Safety where needed, in both DXB and DWC SkyCargo operation, identify root cause, safety hazards and deficiencies, casual and human factors. Identify, recommend and implement safe work practices, corrective actions post accidents, safety awareness campaign, to prevent recurrences and enhance operational safety in accordance with the standards and practices set out in the Emirates Group and relevant safety manuals and as defined by the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE. Job Outline: – Lead the investigations for safety related incidents at SkyCargo hub(s) in negligible and minor incidents as per the Safety Manual Section 6.2 and work alongside Group Safety for more serious incidents. Drive changes and recommendations necessitated by accidents and incidents, with a view to reducing the risk of recurrences, including but not limited to, changes to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), shift briefing sessions and staff training. Ensure that recommendations are fully implemented with sustainable results. – Undertake and maintain safety investigation reports including but not limited to process failures, inadequate operating procedures, work area design and facilities, as observed during the shift for further management review. Conduct Risk Assessment in various operational areas, drive changes necessitated to improve failures identified and keep track of action results via safety management system. – Regularly provide critical feedback and inputs to duty managers and SkyCargo management on all issues related to safety and unsafe operational practices with the aim of improving safety standards and controls. Compile factual, quality and structured weekly and monthly reports on issues observed and encountered during the shift, customise reports and reporting details based on severity of accident or injury, which is related to lost-time and non-lost-time – Undertake thorough and regular inspections and audits of the operation including but not limited to people compliance to SOPs, safety-checks on equipment conditions and serviceability, inadequate operating practices, work area design and facilities. Work in conjunction with work place coach and equipment trainers to ensure all Safety Training remains effective and current, and reflects changing operational and business needs. Provide inputs based on operational observations on the effectiveness of the training and recommend enhancements and changes as appropriate. – Liaise and facilitate SkyCargo Safety action group meetings on a regular basis. Follow up and drive stakeholders to reach conclusion on outstanding action items and escalate issues to the SkyCargo safety board and Group Safety. In addition, maintain close and regular contact with external stakeholders including Dubai Airports’ Cargo & Logistics, DA Safety team, dnata airport operations and act as SkyCargo’s key contact person for all Health and Safety issues at DXB and DWC. – Promote a team approach to achieving SkyCargo’s safety goals and objectives, by actively participating in the shift briefings and ongoing and adequate communications on safety issues and in developing a generative safety culture. – Contribute to the ongoing development of the group safety management module (SID) to ensure that proactive safety processes are integrated into normal operational procedures, thereby adding to the overall efficiency and safety of the operation. – Remain up to date, through self-research and active interaction with Group Safety, on industry wide best practices related to staff health, safety, procedural standards, work place environment and provide input to management for improvements as needed. Undergo appropriate specialised training where needed, thereby ensuring a multi-skilled capability in all aspects of the job, including non-core activities such as safety audits etc. – Work with the SkyCargo operations team and Group Safety to define proper KPIs and targets related to safety. Provide statistical summaries to SkyCargo and Group Safety management highlighting significant trends and reoccurrences, in order to gain better insights into the root cause of incidents. – Ensure compliance of all contracted companies with SkyCargo safety requirements as well as safety regulations of the relevant authorities so that work is carried out safely with minimal risk of incident. Liaise with the contracted company management to ensure that latest safety procedures are briefed and understood by all contracted staff working in SkyCargo DXB and DWC operation. Escalate any non-conformance to both management teams with recommendations.

Qualifications & Experience: Logistics/Cargo.Other : 5+ Years Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) : – In Health and Safety Management or an allied subject such as Occupational Health & Safety would be advantageous. – Preferably a professional membership – of Occupational Health and Safety or any other well recognised OH&S Institution. – Experience in a health, safety and environment field, in industrial and /or regulatory industries. – Experience in the airline industry, airports, aircraft manufacturing, petrochemical, manufacturing, engineering or similar field with a major emphasis on health and safety is an advantage. – Knowledge/skills: Health and Safety legislation in the UAE, and UK, US. EU, ASIA, AUS/NZ would be advantageous. – Airport operations with reference to safety, health and environment issues.
