Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is hiring a Senior Manager, Airline Customer Marketing. Based in Dubai, UAE. The individual in this role leads the team of Airlines Customer Marketing Specialists developing and executing marketing plans and campaigns for commercial customer fleet growth and replacement decisions. Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives. Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees. Provides insights on the Africa and Middle East BCA Marketing team morale, development status, and needs to the Managing Director of Commercial Marketing – Africa and Middle East.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead local team of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Airlines Customer Marketing Specialists based in Dubai, providing management guidance, career development support, strategic and analytical insights
- Complete quarterly and annual performance management discussions (priority-setting and performance enablement and coordinate with the Managing Director on annual salary adjustments and other compensation reviews, as required
- Suggest and oversee training and experience necessary for the continued professional and career development of the local regional marketing team
- Amplify the “voices of the customer,” clearly articulating the opinions and concerns of our airlines and other commercial aviation stakeholders in the region, supplementing the input of our marketing, sales, and customer support teams
- Represent the marketing function and team locally with Sales and Boeing International leadership organizations, providing immediate on-site management support and facilitating better and faster communication between the Seattle and Dubai-based teams
- Maintain, and as appropriate, build closer relationships between the regional marketing team and other Dubai-based functions, including but not limited to Communications, Customer Support, Safety & Regulatory Affairs, Boeing Global Engagement, Boeing Customer Finance, and others. Explore interest in and feasibility of regular marketing reports or “cross-talks” with different functions to enhance communication and situational awareness among the entire Boeing-Dubai organization
- Work with the Managing Director to identify major industry themes or trends that justify further analysis and study, and demonstrate the opportunity for the team to show creativity and thought leadership internally and externally
- As requested and in coordination with Managing Director, provide guidance on staffing levels and anticipated space requirements to HR and Facilities to support long-range planning exercises
- Strengthen relationships between Marketing and Boeing Affairs, providing support on market share, order/delivery, and other relevant trends to provide the GA team with additional leverage in their efforts to positively impact Boeing’s image and outcomes in the market
- In coordination with other members of the BCA regional marketing team, maintain and/or develop relationships with aviation-related organizations, including but not limited to regulatory agencies and region-focused commercial aviation industry organizations. Support their events as requested and as resources permit to provide BCA perspectives, gather information and perspectives, and promote preference for Boeing Commercial products and services
- In coordination with the Managing Director, facilitate regional Airline Planning Workshop planning to strengthen relationships and increase preference for Boeing Commercial offerings among customers and stakeholders. In collaboration with the local and Seattle-based regional marketing team and Customer Relations, manage the development of a specific agenda and support the logistics of the event, from PRO-6 approval through site selection and invitations to actual event execution and post-event surveys
- In coordination with the Managing Director, evaluate the opportunity to host topical workshops or symposia when market conditions dictate
- In coordination with the Managing Director, identify and develop plans to support the most influential and important conferences and seminars in-country. Develop a summary of events at the end of each year to guide participation decisions for the following year(s)
- Manage the local team’s participation at selected internal and external events, matching themes and opportunities with team strengths and development needs. Be prepared to step into local speaking and presentation roles as needed if executive travel plans change
- Keep the Managing Director informed of analytical studies uniquely requested of the Dubai-based team
- Maintain responsibility as regional marketing lead for key accounts in the region. Monitor workload over time and reassess work statement as required
- Other projects and tasks not called out above, as mutually agreed with the Managing Director
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 10+ years’ experience in the commercial aviation industry
- 5+ years’ experience in an airline customer facing role
- 5+ years’ experience interfacing with senior and executive leadership
- 5+ years’ experience with Sales & Marketing of commercial airplane products and services
- 5+ years’ experience in a BCA regional marketing
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Deep and wide knowledge of the Africa and Middle East commercial aviation industry and the region’s airlines, gained ideally through hands-on experience with a variety of customers and stakeholders
- Knowledge of the organizational structure of BCA sufficient to navigate the bureaucracy and understand the essential “touch points” for cross-functional projects and activities
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in a discipline related to aerospace (e.g., engineering), international commerce and business (international relations, economics), or other field of study supportive of the required skills for airline marketing
- Creativity in the ways in which we depict the attributes and value advantages of our products relative to the competition, and a curiosity and willingness to explore new ways of showing data and demonstrating our value premium
- The ability to produce quality work (analyses and presentations) quickly and under pressure
- Adequate knowledge of Boeing and competitor products and aviation technology to be knowledgeable and persuasive with technical and engineering leaders at our customers
- A proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, projecting executive presence when needed but exemplifying humility to peers and direct reports
- Proven public speaking skills, whether to an audience of five at an airline or 500 in a conference
- A positive attitude, able to cope with the ambiguity and challenges of a complex organization, a highly competitive industry, and a highly politicized environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Fluency or competency in Arabic and/or African language(s)
- An advanced degree in an aviation-relevant discipline (MBA, MA, MS)
- Experience working at an airline, airport, Air Traffic Management organization, industry supplier, or other stakeholder providing insights into the business and an “outside” voice
- Experience in leadership role(s)
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 12 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+8 years’ related work experience, Master+10 years’ related work experience).
