At SISD we follow the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme from Pre-Kindergarten (PreKG) to Grade 12 and the Swiss Baccalaureate programme from Grade 6 onwards. We are looking for an outstanding, passionate, caring and driven Deputy Head of Boarding.

Our team of international teaching staff is made up of highly qualified professionals who all share one goal: to provide quality education to all of our children in a caring, nurturing and supportive environment.

The role of Deputy Head of Boarding shares in the pastoral responsibility for the well-being of students and will support the Head of Boarding to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the boarding houses. They report to the Head of Boarding. The successful candidate will have experience working in a boarding school, and have obtained, or be willing to study for, a BSA qualification. They will have excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to relate to students, aged 11-18 years.

The Deputy Head of Boarding will be an integral part of the Boarding Leadership Team and must adopt a leadership and management style that is ‘hands on’ and which establishes a physical presence in the boarding houses. The Deputy Head of Boarding can expect to be asked to assist students with their academic studies alongside leading activities both during the evenings and at weekends. The Deputy Head of Boarding will possess patience, empathy and understanding to provide the very best of care to our boarders.

As part of our commitment to our academic staff’s personal and professional development, comprehensive professional development will be provided to the successful candidate, who will:

• have experience of working in a Boarding School setting as a Deputy Head of Boarding or senior Houseparent holding a relevant educational degree and BSA professional qualification or certification for the role or willing to study to obtain one
• have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the role of Deputy Head of Boarding or senior Houseparent
• be proficient in an additional language such as French, German or Arabic (desirable)
