Spectrum Entertainment Services LLC is seeking a Lighting Designer to join our team of lighting professionals. Successful candidates will have a consummate knowledge of lighting design and associated technical systems, as well as exemplary project management skills. Lighting Designer occupy the principal role on each project, which encompasses client interfacing, design, installation etc. Candidates will be expected to lead junior staff through a crowded schedule of projects across a variety of disciplines.

Lighting Designer coordinate with Design and Production staff for a deeply meticulous advance process, accounting for every potential need and obstacle in order to successfully build large scale installations. Design staff fully plans the technical framework and support systems needed to realize a client’s aesthetic, including rigging and engineering temporary structures, charting and implementing power distributions systems, designing the architecture of lighting control networks, and much more.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Collaborate with clients to determine event needs and creative vision.

· Develop, visualize, and pitch design concepts to clients and partners.

· Survey project sites to identify and plan for logistical limitations and design opportunities.

· Evaluate and tabulate all production needs (lighting equipment, labour, heavy equipment, power, production support, etc.) and ripple information out to appropriate providers.

· Collect, collate, and ripple the often-changing needs of clients and partner vendors.

· Communicate with client regularly to create a schedule, define scope, and advance production needs.

· Directly manage the onsite design of an event: finesse installation details, focus lights, collaborate with console programmers, and interface with clients and partner vendors.

· Manage a team of Associate and Assistant Designers, who provide support by handling shop orders, forwarding production needs, drafting, and assisting in onsite design work.

· Assist Design staff or technicians in departmental management, such as: staff scheduling, maintaining standards, and training junior employees. Collaborate in the creation, organization, and maintenance of the company’s digital assets and databases.
