Geotechnical engineer involved with planning, design and partial supervision of ground investigations, interpretation of geotechnical data, development of the ground model, foundation solutions, detailed design of underground structures (shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls etc.) and specifications. Based full time in the design office in Dubai (DED). Support Site (e.g., RDIs), Tender Department (e.g., value engineering) and D&B projects.

• Design of ground investigation including scoping and specification
• Analysis of soil and rock data and derivation of appropriate design parameters
• Design of underground structures, mostly foundations and retaining walls
• Supervision (visit or partial supervision) of ground investigation and foundation work

Type of Geotechnical Design

• 
  Shallow foundations (strip and pad footings)
• 
  Deep foundations (driven and cast-in-situ piles) including preliminary pile test
• 
  Deep excavations (sheet pile and concrete wall as retaining system, cantilevered or anchored)
• 
  Slope stability analysis
• 
  Liquefaction analysis

After two years of working with DED, the following is expected:

• 
  Good standard of soil interpretative report writing skills
• 
  Good standard of geotechnical design note writing skills
• 
  Good geotechnical design skills (in particular foundation and retaining wall design)
• 
  Good FE analysis skills (Plaxis 2D and 3D)
• 
  Ability to work under minimal supervision
• 
  Ability to work as part of a team

Your Competencies:

• Strong geotechnical design skills (in particular foundation and retaining wall design)
• Good knowledge of ground investigation techniques and experience in the supervision of soil investigation work.
• Ability to derive appropriate design parameters and high standard of soil interpretative report writing skills.
• You are a developed specialist who broadens and deepens knowledge by focused knowledge-gathering.
• You have a flexible personality, who looks critical to his own working area, and you look continuously out for ways to do it better.
• You challenge the prevailing assumptions within your experience area and you propose effective ideas for improvement of existing processes within the Company.
• You coach and guide other specialists within and outside your specialism by means of your good and extended communication skills.
• You are able to work efficiently and autonomously on parts of larger projects where your knowledge is required, so a high return on investment and a value-added service is guaranteed.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.

• Candidate should have up to 5 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering
• Middle East experience is a plus.
• Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from a reputed university preferably a European university.
• Proficient in English communication skills
• Good computer/software skills
