Job Summary
Manage, control, plan and regularly monitor the operations of the Airport Security Unit by establishing clear operating guidelines and standards in order to safeguard Airlines (EK/Others) from incurring heavy penalties and infringements with various immigration authorities as a result of carriage of illegal passengers or passengers with improper documentation.
Job Outline
Manage and control the operations of the Airport Security Unit by ensuring that the team is well trained, conforms to procedures and rules & regulations. Provide constant feedback to the line manager and submit proposals to improvise the performance of the unit. This is in order to ensure an error free performance from the service delivery team to deliver productive results.
Direct, influence, analyse and recommend measures to be taken in situations such as handling of disruptive passengers, analysing the acceptance/non-acceptance of passengers on the basis of profile, handling of deportee passengers etc. thereby ensuring the security and safeguard of passengers, crew and the aircraft.
In critical situations co-ordinate activities and escalate sensitive decisions to the line manager in situations such as security threats to an aircraft.
Scrutinise and monitor the operation on a regular basis by measuring the performance of service delivery teams against set standards and benchmarks. Analyse variances and initiate corrective measures to enhance performance. This will involve compilation and analysis of comprehensive statistics as per respective stations.
Co-ordinate with and influence airport, authorities, other airlines and outstations, to facilitate quick dispersal of deportee/stranded passenger in order to minimise liabilities for the Emirates Group.
Identify trends which highlight service shortfalls and submit recommendations to the line manager to changes in procedures/policies to counter the same. This is in order to promote continuous improvement process within the unit.
Maintain an effective working relationship bearing in mind the diplomatic sensitivity with various missions such as embassy, consulates, immigration authorities, local security, in order to ensure that the passport unit is kept updated with global trends/practices in relation to illegal immigrant traffic. This is also to safeguard the interest of the department and protect passenger’s right and obtain required clearances for cases of re-boarding the offloaded passengers.
Identify, initiate, develop and maintain business relations with Airlines in order to promote document check services highlighting the merits to the station managers. Make recommendations on commercial aspects and submit a proposal to the Security Management for approval thereby generating additional revenue for the group.
Lead by example, motivate and coach the service delivery team in order to ensure that the team consistently projects a high standard image of the organisation by dealing with the customers in a professional, courteous and diplomatic manner. Maintain high staff morale and ensure that the needs of the task, group and individuals are looked after. Conduct PM reviews of the direct reportees, identify training/development requirements for the team and initiate nominations for relevant courses.
Manage and control airport unit administration by implementing efficient staff rosters, and by controlling the leave plans for the staff thereby optimising manpower resources ensuring a seamless operation that meets the service standards. Play an active role in the budget preparation of the section.

Knowledge/skills
A thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of reservations, air travel documentation requirements and advanced knowledge of Fraud Prevention and Forgery Identification.
Excellent supervisory and man management skills, proficient in written and verbal communication, good report writing skills and negotiating abilities.
