Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR) is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a global leading supplier of equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries.

We are now looking for an analytical and results-oriented Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer, Region Southern Europe, Middle East and CIS (“SEMEC”). In this position you will get an opportunity to become a member of dynamic and highly professional Legal and Compliance in-house team with a passion to provide high quality services. Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer, Region SEMEC is a regional role which can be based in flexible location in Europe, Middle East and CIS (for example Dubai, Turku, Tampere, Stockholm, Almaty).


Your mission

In this role, you will be managing and mitigating legal and contractual risks while being a part of the SMR Legal & Compliance Support Function. You will advise SEMEC sales organization with drafting, reviewing and negotiation of various types of commercial contracts such as sales agreements, framework agreements and distribution agreements while continuing roll-out of common processes and trainings. You will also advise indirect purchasing for goods and/or services. You will manage disputes and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Sandvik Group policies and procedures. Occasionally, you may need to support matters related to corporate governance, data privacy, financing, competition law and IT and digital law.

Furthermore, in this role, you will work to promote and drive compliance with laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures, supporting a culture of integrity and raising awareness of all compliance-related matters throughout the organization. You will drive the global Compliance Programs, which include anti-bribery and anti-corruption, data privacy, trade compliance and competition law, within the areas of responsibility. You will identify compliance risks, advise on compliance activities and set priorities for the activities in order to reduce compliance risks. You will work independently and closely with the business, seek to understand how the compliance program applies to the different operations and how to ease the identified risks. You are responsible for training and educating people in compliance topics.


Your character

You have a Master of Law degree, and at least five (5) years of experience in compliance, commercial contracts and/or corporate law gained within a major law firm and/or an in-house legal function role in a multinational company.

Your previous experience in similar type of industrial sectors, such as technology and/or mechanical and electrical engineering sectors, will be considered as a merit. You have a proven track record of successfully advising on a wide range of complex corporate legal issues and on delivering of pragmatic and business-oriented solutions to legal and compliance matters and problems. In addition to first class technical legal skills and being attentive to details, you have the will and ability to identify relevant facts and risks as well the bigger picture. Your language skills in English and Russian must be advanced, both verbally and in writing, other language skills are considered an asset. The job requires frequent travelling, including monthly travels to Kazakhstan.
