Job Summary: Looking for an Assistant Accountant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Job Key Details:
- Assist in managing import/export financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Prepare and maintain financial records as well as documentation related to import/export operations, including invoices, purchase orders, customs documents and shipping records
- Verify and reconcile import/export transactions, ensuring consistency between financial systems and supporting documentation
- Monitor and analyze import/export costs, expenses and revenues, providing insights and recommendations for cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
- Assist in preparing financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets as well as cash flow statements, specifically related to import/export activities
- Assist in managing import/export compliance requirements, such as tariff codes, customs duties, VAT and other taxes
- Stay updated on import/export regulations, policies and industry trends to ensure compliance and identify potential risks or opportunities
- Support the accounting team in month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals and financial statement preparation
- Carry out any other related tasks as may be required
Job Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience working in an accounting role, experience in an export/import company will be a great advantage
- Familiarity with import/export regulations, customs procedures and international trade documentation is highly required
- Proficiency in financial accounting principles and practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements related to import/export activities is desirable
- Must be in the UAE
