Role Profile – Procurement Business Partner
Job Description
The Procurement Business Partner is a strategic procurement advisor to local business stakeholders. They are the primary point of contact for specific stakeholder groups acting as an enabler and strategic thinker to the procurement organization. The role provides key business partnering activities including gathering and translating business needs, issues, and priorities into procurement activities. They ensure that procurement works as a network by linking the external markets, global procurement strategies and local procurement delivery teams to procurement activity.
The Procurement Business Partners role ensures that local Business teams’ needs are fulfilled by either leading or supporting procurement delivery teams to successfully implement procurement initiatives satisfying local demand. By efficiently and effectively understanding local needs and calling on the appropriate resources within the Procurement organization, the Procurement Business Partner ensures that high-quality end-user service requirements and expectations are satisfied.
Your key responsibilities include:
be the“voice of Procurement” to the Business, and the “voice of the business” to Procurement – represent procurement to the business in their location(s) directly or indirectly as support to local delivery teams.
drive procurement engagement – ensures fit-for-purpose procurement solutions and processes for either specific locations (site, clusters of sites or countries) and/or spend categories are implemented.
leads/enables or supports procurement delivery teams – ensures procurement activity is conducted in compliance with relevant policies, standards, guidelines, and operating procedures.
provide input into global strategies and plans – provides global category and supplier management teams with local input to support global and regional category and supplier strategy development.
strategic workforce planning active participation, ensure and balance resource availability in ME to deliver our 10 years ambition
strategy developer/value driver – driving/supporting prioritization, customer buy-in/sponsorship of applicable procurement services and solutions tailored to customer needs and aligned to overall customer and procurement strategies.
procurement ambassador and customer partner, acting as the primary point of contact for specific customers focused on simplifying and optimizing the customer experience across procurement, including identifying procurement opportunities, promoting solutions, and advocating for customer compliance (i.e., with policies, tools, processes) and adoption (i.e., Procurement systems uptake and improvement).
be involved in target setting – provides guardrails for our procurement organization for annual planning and target alignment generating/leveraging data insights & analytics.
support implementation of new processes and technologies – identifies and supports continuous improvement activities to drive additional value.
collaborate with global/regional teams in the realization implementation of Category initiatives at the local level, including application of buying guides and content.
build strong working relationships – develops strong relationships with relevant global/regional procurement business partners and delivery procurement colleagues.
support supplier management and continuous improvement – development/implements innovation programs with key suppliers, identifies and manages regional strategic supplier risk. Supports global Category and Supplier Management teams to manage regional, global, cross-divisional, or other strategic suppliers
support “Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR) – support CSR initiatives related to (candidate) suppliers, e.g. supplier diversity, anti-bribery, animal welfare, etc.
People Leader – May have people accountabilities directly or indirectly based on new ways of working concepts. Working closely with the procurement resources to develop the team vision, prioritise and focus efforts, and provide coaching, feedback, and input that enables the procurement colleagues effective delivery, performance and development.

a strong understanding of local business activities, deep knowledge of procurement spend management approaches, strong analytics, planning and prioritization skills to engage all appropriate parties for decision making.
demonstrated/excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and influencing skills. Plus the ability to challenge/collaborate and partner with our business to influence demand and procurement direction for our business stakeholders.
demonstrated experience of Category Management as well as understanding of the major spend categories and potential cost levers.
proficient in systems (Ariba, Emptoris, SAP etc.) and processes for efficient contract documentation, templates and tools (e.g. eSourcing, eAuction) with familiarity of legal risks and issues.

university degree in business or life sciences preferable.
business level fluency in english as well as primary business language of the site(s).
7+ years procurement experience plus experience in supporting cost reduction and value improvement programs
Nice to have
Documented international strategic sourcing or cost reduction experience.
Life Sciences experience.
Professional purchasing (e.g. CIPS, ISM) or Finance related licenses or certifications
Travel requirements: Availability to travel (air and ground both domestic and internationally) for up to 15% of time for various meetings at Roche and Supplier sites.
