Job Summary.

Applying product knowledge and engineering principles, assure FGS products are sold and installed in applications that do not exceed their specialized design and performance specifications. Provide technical support to Sales, Distributors and end-users by answering technical questions about products, relevant codes and standards to identify FGS products that meet application requirements. Ensure that technical project requirements committed to the customer are workable for Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as technical gate keeper insuring FGS product is not knowingly sold or installed in an application with service parameters outside the safe limits of the product.
• At an early stage, ensure that committed technical product requirements are acceptable to Operations to ensure that project execution runs smoothly.
• Provide first review of each new request for quotation, to understand technical requirements and recommend appropriate products that meet or exceed technical requirements.
• Provide answers for technical questions, including questions pertaining to codes and standards, for both internal and external customers.
• Specify optimized products to offer for given applications.
• Guide selection of product line for given applications based on chemical and physical compatibilities.
• Perform engineering calculations and present results for items related to fiberglass pipe products, including pipe properties, design verifications, flow mechanics and pipe sizing.
• Prepare Technical Packages for tenders and organize the technical tender documents. This includes exceptions and clarifications to the tender specifications.
• Provide and give technical training on fiberglass piping systems to employees, distributors, agents and customers.
• Develop and maintain technical information in product literature, assuring published parameters are commensurate with ongoing QC test results and manufacturing practices.
• When requested, accompanying sales staff on calls to make formal technical presentations to customers engineering staff to encourage the specification of FGS products.
• Visit job sites to resolve technical issues with design, installation and field failures and to develop a working relationship with customer’s key technical staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

BEHAVIORAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Material Science from an accredited college or university.
• 5 to 10 years of piping design experience in oil and gas production, or related industry is a plus.
• Command of mathematical and scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
• College level Chemistry along with knowledge of material selection and application.
• Basic knowledge of the corrosion sciences.
• Possess technical aptitude and ability to understand engineering, design and product performance issues.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Familiar with industrial processes, particularly onshore and offshore oilfield production processes.
• Adequate verbal, written and analytical skills with a professional and helpful demeanor.
• Computer literacy using Microsoft Word, Excel, or other comparable software.
• Available for overnight & international travel.
• Experience working with Caesar II a plus.
• Experience with composite piping a plus
• Experience with downhole tubing and casing a plus
