Our client, a leading Logistic service provider is looking for a Barge Supervisor for their Sudan office.

Key Job Description/Responsibilities

Reports to Operations Manager, Marine and Road

Full responsibility of the River Transport operations and directly accountable for the below while in charge.

Barge to shore and shore to barge loading and discharge operations.

Product quality monitoring during receipt, discharge and transport.

Full accountability for the inventory of the cargo from loading to completion of discharge.

The safe navigation of the pushers and barges on the river.

The proper maintenance and Housekeeping of the pushers and barges.

The maintenance and integrity of all loading and discharge equipment on the barges.

To maintain and improve the Health and Safety culture and standards in the River Transport.

The compliance to the company HSE policies and standards by all the direct reports/persons working on the pushers and barges at any time.

To ensure all new barge/pusher workers has received appropriate induction training special on job training and that all safety aspects are fully understood and that all staff are provided with appropriate PPE at all times.

All staff before each transit conduct the required drills and that every person working on board is aware of his responsibilities in case of emergencies.

The fuel consumption of the pushers to be within the generic engine consumption limits for power applied.

Participates/conducts risk assessment on Pusher / Barges along with HSEQ and Marine Manager,

Supervises work permit implementation on vessels as required to provide assurance that all significant hazards arising from tasks are identified and controlled.

Supervising the logistics and the all safety aspects during the loading, Transport/sailing and offloading in order to avoid any incident/Accident.

In charge of safety activities, conducting / Initiating fire drill exercises in order to keep the crew alert and trained for handling a fire situation.

Coordinate the crews (International & National), administrative issues, leaves, training and discipline along with the Marine Manager.

Maintenance of a sailing logs, as well for fire drill, fuel consumption, maintenance, parts, repairs, etc.

Responsible for control of HSEQ on board during loading, sailing and discharging.

Maintain HSEQ items status and notify line Manager & HSEQ Manager in advance for items in critical situation.

Participate in investigation of incidents/accidents.

Participate in investigation of oil or environmental pollution and cleaning program as required.

Actively participate in coordination, monitoring and follow-up of the implementation of recommendations raised from the HSEQ committees, other HSE related meetings, and HSEQ audit.

Conduct HSE training, and ensure documentation is updated and available at all times.

Ensure up-to-date documentations are in place for trainings, inspections, HSEQ stock movements, risk assessment.

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma in Engineering or similar field

Preferably having HSE qualification such as a NEBOSH diploma/certificate or similar HSE Management Systems

Two years’ experience in Oil & Gas industry, preferably experienced in Aviation Operations.

Good knowledge of IT and applications.

Should be proficient in spoken and written English

Should have attended relevant courses such as, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 audit leader, gas tester/ PTW, Oil spill control, or similar HSE Management Systems

Skill & confidence in delivering HSE training courses & presentations

KPI’s

Number of Lost Time injury of self and staff involved in barge operations.

Number of drills conducted – records to be made to company HSEQ after each transit.

Fire Drills 2

Evacuation 2

Confined space evacuation 1

Security attack protection 2

Number of HSEQ training provided to River Transport staff – Minimum of one tool box meeting / Month.

Loss & Gain of cargo for each trip – Number of times the losses exceeded 0.2

% of cargo grade transported.

Fuel consumption of the pushers – number of times the consumption exceeded the laid down figure per round trip.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to AED11,000.00 per month
