ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Global Head of Technology, you will lead multiple teams consisting of over 50 engineers (and growing) who are responsible for the design, development and operation of the company’s core platform. The role reports to the Chief Product and Information Officer where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the success of the company at a critical stage in our growth.

We are looking for a strong engineering leader who is a strategic and innovative problem solver with a passion for applying technology to solve real-world customer problems at scale. The ideal candidate is passionate about building high performance teams focused on quality, innovation and demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills with an ability to connect with other engineers, as well as other leaders throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for coordinating team efforts to ensure all development is completed on time within budget with high level of quality and within scope.
• Assign tasks to the appropriately skilled team, create culture of ownership, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize the progress of each team.
• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of development needs.
• Assist in the definition of development of work scopes and objectives, set guidelines and frameworks involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
• Develop a detailed plan to monitor and track progress to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
• Manage changes to the workstream scope, schedule and costs (time) using appropriate verification techniques.
• Build a “scalable, multi-tenant and flexible system to serve internal and external customer needs
• Own the SLA Process with internal & external customer based on ITIL standards
• Organize the 24/7 Operations of our global Platform & Systems with the right tools and monitoring systems
• Measure plan performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Meet with internal stakeholders to clarify specific requirements of each workstream.
• Delegate tasks based on individual strengths, skills set and experience levels.
• Facilitate overall technology strategy, quarterly and yearly goals, drive engineering best practices, ownership of delivering on core outcomes
• Train and coach future engineering leaders
• Maintain the health and morale of the team
• Ensure that the organizational structure is structured to allow the teams to work as effectively as possible
• Have regular 1:1s with the team and make sure there is a good and honest communication channel with people about great feedback and areas of improvement

About you:

• 7+ years of hands-on software development
• Strong knowledge of current Java technologies (Java 8, Spring Boot) and Apache infrastructure technologies as well as database technologies like MySQL, MongoDB and Redis
• Proven track record of architecting and delivering complex technical projects to solve problems at scale
• Knowledge of latest front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML 5) and server-side JavaScript (node.js, TypeScript) is desirable
• Experience managing mobile development teams (iOS, Android)
• Experience with software build and release process via a common CI/CD setup like Jenkins or Gitlab
• Knowledge of best CI / CD Practices
• Experience with Cloud Technologies such as Azure and AWS and relevant compliance (security, GDPR)
• Experience designing and operating solutions within microservice-based architecture
• Experience designing and delivering secure fail-safe systems and architecture
• Expert in API development, integration, cloud and server-side technologies, identity and authentication solutions
