Our Global Response team is seeking an experienced and agile Program Manager to work across functions, including with members of our Leadership team, on our highest priority issues across the company. The Regional Program Manager will combine a passion for Meta’s mission with deep knowledge of the political, social, and regulatory dynamics across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey with a particular focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. We are looking for candidates who have experience working on complex cross-functional projects and quickly creating org-wide partnerships. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience communicating across all levels of an organization and effectively resolving process gaps. The Regional Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating company-wide responses to critical events across the region, including elections and periods of heightened tensions, as well as developing strategies to mitigate offline harm in anticipation of high risk events. Ideal candidates are highly organized and impact oriented, excited about fast paced work in high urgency high importance situations, are able to address complex problems in structured and creative ways, and are skilled at driving decisions in ambiguous environments.
Regional Program Manager SSA, Global Response Responsibilities:
- Identify process gaps and new product needs
- Effectively resolve gaps and drive alignment with relevant stakeholders
- Work across teams to identify potential risks affecting our users across the region and drive processes to mitigate these risks
- Absorb a significant amount of information from a variety of inputs to help frame and communicate product, policy, and process requirements
- Develop and coordinate company-wide strategies to protect elections integrity on our platform in the region
- Lead cross-functional meetings, align decision-makers, and escalate issues to leadership
- Regularly communicate process and challenges to leadership in the company
- Some travel will be required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of our mission, our community and our values
- Experience thinking strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations and action plans, in a time sensitive and high level crisis
- Experience working effectively and swiftly with all levels of management, both internally and externally
- Experience driving and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a cross functional environment, consensus building and strong collaboration skills
- Experience driving decisions in ambiguous situations under time pressure
- Fluency in at least one regional language
