Vice President, Strategy Pricing & Interchange
Overview & Role
- This position reports to the SVP, Business Excellence EEMEA.
- This position will work closely with Products, Finance, Divisions/Clusters/Countries, and other stakeholders across the organization to design and optimize the economics of current and new products and value-added services.
- The position will direct the development and implementation of a strategic framework for pricing and interchange programs, including:
- Driving sustainable P&L growth. This framework seeks to drive, through price changes, volume, and revenue for both Mastercard and our customers.
- Leading Strategic & Value Pricing. How to develop and deploy price structures to maximize the value of our products and services to our customers, in individual or bundled formats.
- Obeying laws and regulations. The accountability for pricing and interchange must comply with Mastercard’s rules and applicable local legislation and addresses regional and local regulatory requirements.
- This person will lead and manage all pricing, interchange, and revenue assurance initiatives for the EEMEA Region, which includes the review and approval of all modifications to rates and structures.
- This position will lead EEMEA Pricing & Interchange Committee, engaging with Senior Management regularly to provide thought-leadership and updates on progress on revenue commitments.
- This person will develop regional interchange proposals in support of key strategic initiatives, and support sustainable revenue growth and diversification, exploiting untapped opportunities in the value chain and enhancing Mastercard’s pricing competitiveness.
- This position will provide reporting and documentation of pricing and interchange programs to senior management and serve as the subject matter expert for pricing and interchange inquiries from both internal and external constituents.
- This position will develop pricing and interchange strategies and structures that reflect the shift in consumer behavior and the introduction of new technology, such as P2P, mobile payments and tokenization, among others.
- Lastly, this person will identify opportunities for Mastercard in non-traditional spaces such as small merchants, low/high value tickets, new acceptance verticals, and new business development opportunities for our network.
All About You:
- Bachelor’s degree with preference for quantitative focus; MBA and/or advanced degree in Financial Management, Statistics, Engineering or Accounting is strongly preferred.
- Business acumen, advanced consulting skills and financial services industry experience preferred.
- Experience leading and developing strategic and quantitative analysis on bank card industry pricing and interchange, plus emerging payment models
- Excellent leadership skills including oral/written communication, execution, consultation and teambuilding skills.
- Demonstrated ability to forge relationships and leadership capabilities with senior management, business unit leaders, and key stakeholders; to effectively interact with all levels of management; and be perceived as an effective and valued subject-matter-expert by internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage tasks and functions across multiple countries, cultures and time zones, including internal and external business partners, managing multiple projects, efficient investments with demonstrable returns, and meeting all critical milestones and deadlines – all with keen attention to quality and detail.
- Fluent in English.
