Job Description
Housekeeping assistants are responsible for keeping hotels, resorts, hospitals, nursing homes and other commercial establishments clean and tidy. They commonly perform a variety of tasks related to cleaning rooms, washing linens, vacuuming carpets, removing trash, etc.
Housekeeping assistants may also be tasked with performing general maintenance duties around their establishment. This might include fixing broken equipment, painting walls, repairing leaks in the plumbing system, etc.
Housekeeping Assistant Job Duties
Housekeeping assistants have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
Cleaning common areas such as lobbies, stairwells, and elevator shafts
Cleaning individual offices or workstations, including vacuuming carpets, dusting shelves, scrubbing toilets, and polishing furniture
Dusting shelves, mopping floors, sweeping up debris, or shampooing carpets and rugs
Cleaning windows inside and out, including blinds and sills
Cleaning and maintaining equipment such as vacuum cleaners and mops
Cleaning upholstery and drapery fabrics in order to prevent stains and damage from occurring
Replacing linens and towels in guest rooms, bathrooms, and other public areas
Vacuuming floors, dusting shelves, cleaning toilets, and scrubbing floors with mops or carpet brushes
Cleaning kitchens, including stove tops, ovens, refrigerators, and counters, as well as disposing of garbage and recycling materials
