Reporting to myself you will be responsible for the successful implementation of new business operations for towage and marine services. Accountable for implementation execution within budget, timelines agreed or contracted and within project scope. Additional responsibility of project management of the planned ERP system roll-out in all countries in the region.
Collaboration with all regional functions for successful delivery of implementation scope.

You will play a significant role in the creation of a lasting culture of teamwork, lessons learned and knowledge sharing by drawing support from members within Svitzer Globally as well as Regional and Country colleagues. You will report directly to me and become part of the Svitzer AMEA Regional Team and your peers and close co-workers are colleagues in our operations covering the AMEA Region.
This role is located in Dubai, UAE. We work flexibly, not because there is a policy telling us to, but because it just makes good business and work/life sense and creates an engaging work environment.
Some ad-hoc travel may be required and this will be planned flexibly and based on yours as well as the business specific needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the leadership of implementation of contracts, tenders and new business operations awarded to Svitzer Group. Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Accountable for implementation success being delivered within deadlines formally agreed with internal and external stakeholders, within project scope and within budget always ensuring implementation compliance and mitigating risks throughout the project execution
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver a coherent project implementation plan that directs and integrates regional functional activity across each area of accountability to deliver on implementation success.
  • Provide clear visibility of project status to internal and external stakeholders by establishing periodic project reporting with milestones, go/no-go stage gates, and operational readiness criteria.
  • Create and execute project work breakdown plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Track the project progress in terms of cost, time and resources and escalate issues and delays in a timely manner.
  • Ensure infrastructure for implementation projects is in place including but not limited to – recruitment, training, crewing, company set up, marine standards and operations, IT systems, technical vessel specification and updates, contractual agreements and obligation.
  • Establish a standard project management and implementation practice for Svitzer that can be used in future projects. Uphold and instigate Svitzer project management principles within each implementation delivery.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders through working groups and steering committee updates. Provide decision-making support to these stakeholders to the benefit of the project or program and business benefits
  • Manage client engagements in partnership with Cluster, Commercial and Operational functional leads to meet expectations on engagement, communication, and delivery in each implementation. Lead the client through the on-boarding process and act as the clients’ center of gravity on implementation and issue resolution.
  • Matrix Management – negotiating skills to oversee and bring together a diverse array of skill sets from across all functions of Svitzer to ensure key milestones are delivered on time and within budget.
Qualifications and Experience required
  • Proven experience in implementation of projects, not necessary in marine industry but solid prior experience is a must. This will need to be demonstrated in the hiring process by providing specific example of previous projects delivered (at least 2 major projects) and their verifiable outcomes.
  • Towage or Maritime industry experience will be preferred but is not mandatory.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and minimum 5 years project management experience. Extensive hands-on experience of working with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera or similar.
  • Minimum a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with business management or operations management as majors. Master’s qualification is preferred.
  • Good understanding of company corporate structure, accounting, financial, tax and legal aspects involved in establishing new business entities internationally.
  • Proven experience and ability to influence at board level & with internal senior stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the capability to manage diverse international group of stakeholders at a broad range of levels.
  • Strong understanding of change management and the ability to work effectively in a matrix structure.
  • A team player, go-getter and finisher with a resilient attitude to get things done despite adversity.
Essential Needs/ Requirements
  • Fluency in both oral and written English
  • Adept user of MS Project and proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communicator, good negotiating, and solid presentation skills
  • High level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity
  • Excellent organizational, time management and planning skills
  • Ability to travel to a diverse set of countries as and when required.
