The Svitzer AMEA (Africa, Middle East and Asia) Region covers a diverse and dynamic area of the globe including current remit of this role covering Svitzer businesses in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Liberia, Oman, Egypt, and Morocco.
This role is a great opportunity for an HR Professional to deploy her/his HR knowledge, expertise and experience across this diverse range of countries.
Reporting to the Regional Head of Human Resources and with your peers you will support the 1200 employees and leaders of the Region, partnering closely with local Country HR & Crewing function colleagues.
Our growth focused mandate and strategy means that new businesses are opening regularly in new geographies and the Regional HR team is responsible for all phases of the new business cycle, including tender research, tender writings and costings, project start-up including establishment of new entity and organization, go-live, handover and hyper-care.
As a nodal point for the Svitzer Global HR function, the Regional HR team engages frequently with the Svitzer Global HQ HR team. You will lead the HR program management and engagement with our people across all facets of human resources practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the full employee life cycle for Svitzer AMEA (Middle East & North Africa) which includes recruitment, onboarding, performance management yearly cycle, compensation, annual salary reviews and offboarding employing best practice standards.
- Maintain the stability and currency of the HR process framework including Recruitment and Selection, Assessment, Onboarding, Training and Development, Offboarding.
- Ownership of the HR Program within Svitzer of Performance, Talent, and Compensation covering AMEA region
- Support and guide local HR and Country Managers in ensuring meaningful engagement with Industrial and Employee Relations activities, and where required participating in collective bargaining and the resolution of collective disputes.
- Work with local management to undertake detailed investigations of complex enquiries relating to performance management, disciplinary procedures, misconduct, and grievance resolution where required.
- Execute HR processes as relevant and ensures HR governance.
- Sparring with Leaders within the business, ensuring conduct and activities are aligned to our Corporate Values, (Safety) Management System and the standards of the countries in which we operate. Build relationships and trust with leaders and colleagues.
- Participate in the HR elements of commercial growth projects from tender formation to new business implementation
- Responsible for ensuring that all assigned HR processes and activities run efficiently and effectively to support employees, leaders, and HR colleagues in the Regional Functions.
- Work with local management to undertake detailed investigations of complex enquiries relating to performance management, misconduct and grievance resolution where required.
Who we are looking for?
- Bachelor and/ or master’s degree in human resources, business discipline or psychology
- CIPD/ / SHRM qualified at associate or member level desirable.
- 10 years HR Business Partnership experience in transportation, maritime or logistics sectors.
- Solid stakeholder engagement with capability to communicate effectively with Leaders across all levels.
- Strong business acumen and negotiation skills
- Sound financial management knowledge and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the capability to deal with people at a broad range of levels
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix structure
- Possess empathy, personal tact, cultural understanding, and strong communication skills and integrity.
- Comfortable with navigating employment laws, drafting employment terms and contracts for senior management and scarce skills professionals.
- High drive result oriented and decisive with a passion for winning.
- Resiliency in challenging situations.
- Able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Willingness to travel
