The opportunity

We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking environmental and sustainability lead to join our established and growing team in UAE.

The role is required for a major masterplan development in Dubai.

The role will be managing sustainability implementation in major masterplan developments and leading engagement with the client organisations to establish the environment and sustainability goals of developments. To establish procedures/processes and guidelines of the master development to meet their objectives. The role should be proficient in writing procedures into contracts of consultants to implement strategic goals of development in sustainability.

To monitors and manages all consultants/contractor in executing strategic sustainability objectives.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the development and implementation of the programme’s carbon strategy.

• Developing programme and project-specific feasibility studies to explore sustainable solutions.

• Managing the sustainability performance through the development and implementation of the programme level and project-specific environmental and sustainability requirements such as the strategies, key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets.

• Monitoring and reporting on programme-level KPIs and the project-specific KPIs (supported by the project teams).

• Participating in the procurement of master planning services, design services, construction, operations, speciality consultants, etc, by embedding the environmental and sustainability requirements into the procurement documents and ensuring that the sustainability requirements are met through the technical review and recommendations process.

• Ensuring that the environmental and sustainability requirements of each project are met throughout the lifecycle of the project through the planning, design, construction, operations and legacy conversion phases. This will require participation in several programme functions including but not limited to design management (brief management, technical coordination, design review, etc), construction management, event operations, etc.

• Assisting project teams (PMs, master planners, design teams, construction teams) with the development of sustainable solutions).

• Developing a programme-wide certification strategy (LEED, CEEQUAL, WELL), monitoring and assisting the project team(s) with their sustainability certification efforts.

• Developing and implementing the sustainable materials guidelines.

• Developing the renewable energy strategy and assisting with the management of the implementation of the strategy.

• Managing the engagement with external stakeholders to collaborate on environmental and sustainability initiatives.

• Preparing and making presentations related to the sustainability aspects of the programme.

• Understanding sustainability requirements of local legislation, international best practice and standards, and ensuring that they are complied with throughout the programme. Consulting local officials and agencies if and when necessary.
