Jumeira Baccalaureate School require an experienced Secondary Assistant Inclusion Coordinator to join their established school from August 2022.
Job Purpose: To work under the professional direction of the Secondary Inclusion Coordinator as part of the professional team to support learning and removal of barriers for students.
Reports to: Secondary Inclusion Coordinator and Assistant Head of School: Inclusion and Wellbeing
Key responsibilities:
- Championing an inclusive culture across the school community.
- To build strong relationships with students and their families that is based upon trust, communication, and empathy.
- Take shared responsibility for care and welfare of SEND and EAL pupils
- Assist in maintaining the SEND and EAL registers.
- At parent’s evenings, meet with parents of students with SEND and EAL
- Deputise for the Secondary Inclusion Coordinator, as appropriate, with regard to meetings and liaising with outside agencies.
- Organise and manage an appropriate learning environment and assist the teacher to plan teaching and learning objectives that ensure pupil progress and development
- Support the pupils in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher/Secondary Inclusion Coordinator to enable pupils’ progress towards their targets
- Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies against pre-determined learning objectives, providing feedback and reports.
- Implement planned learning activities/interventions as agreed with the Secondary Inclusion Coordinator.
- Interact with, and support students, according to individual educational needs.
- Provide differentiated support to pupils individually and within a group (push in and pull out).
Qualifications/Training:
- Holds a degree – Essential
- Holds additional SEND qualification/training e.g, ASDAN – Desirable
- Experience of working in IB – Desirable
- Experience of working in a multicultural environment – Desirable
Experience / Knowledge :
- Proven experience of working in a teaching environment – Essential
- Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage children and enable them to perform highly – Essential
- Excellent and appropriate relationships with young people – Essential
- Experience of teaching students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD), Autism and ADHD – Essential
- Experience of supporting students with social and emotional difficulties – Essential
- Experience in SEND paperwork such as IEPs and progress tracking – Desirable
- Experience of collaborating and communicating with a range of stakeholders including parents – Desirable
- Experience of liaising with external agencies including educational psychologists, medical professionals, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists – Desirable
- Excellent and appropriate relationships with young people – Essential

- Excellent oral and written communication skills – Essential
