The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®) properties in Dubai Festival City consist of four hotel brands. At the moment we’re looking for a Director of Banquets to join our team at InterContinental Hotels Group® Dubai Festival City.

This vital role will be responsible to lead and manage the conference and events services of IHG® Dubai Festival City and Festival Arena.

The role’s primary responsibility is to Manage the Event Operations to obtain maximum profit and maximum guest and colleague satisfaction through the consistent delivery of services and colleague communication at all levels.

Your day to day

Additional key responsibilities are:

• Ensure continued training sessions for all areas (Waiter, Head Waiter, Assistant Manager, Events Service Manager, Bartender, Casuals)
• To oversee the operations of the Events Operations Department and ensure achievement of KPOs, business objectives and department synergy
• To provide an inspiring example of Events Operations amongst peers, as well as responsibility and resourcefulness by asserting, protecting and demonstrating the core values of the IHG Hotels.
• To provide team members with a consistent management “voice” to upper management.
• To develop sound decision making in relation with guest satisfaction as well as manage and control costs.
• Supervises Operations Team and maintains high (satisfactory) performance standards among all employees.
• Develops superior customer service strategies: communicates regularly with guests and ensures high customer satisfaction and service standards.
• Develops salaries and incentives, mediate problems, organize and set work schedules, schedule plan and facilitate team meetings.
• Organizing the recruitment, interviewing and selection of new Event Operations and Services personnel.
• Reviews and evaluates employee performance on regular intervals, maintains detailed records on personnel issues and participates in termination proceedings (as needed).
• Creates training programmers and conducts regular updates/refresher training sessions.
• Organizes effectively staff schedule, roster, etc.
• Assist in continued development and refinement of employee manual and operations protocols (SOP manual).
• Ensures a maximisation of financial profit and guest satisfaction
• Ensures efficiency in all areas through the Events Operation
• To effectively implement Events Operations objectives such as customer service, financial targets, revenues and profits, image enhancement and staff appearance standards.
• Effectively develops P&L, prepare budgets, and developing a price structure.
• Co-ordinating the preparation of the departmental annual budget
• Control and monitor departmental costs on an on-going basis to ensure optimal performance against budget

What we need from you

Ideally, you’ll have some or all of the following qualifications and experience we’re looking for:

Required Skills and Experiences:

• High level of passion, enthusiasm and drive for results
• Charismatic leader who can inspire, motivate and discipline a Banquet team
• Excellent communication skills across all mediums – presentation, telephone, correspondence, face to face etc. in English and preferably a 2ndlanguage
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop and foster beneficial relationships
• Ambitious and eager to learn, grow and further develop own career
• High level of common sense and high skill of problem solving and decision making
• Able to travel on frequent basis and culturally adaptable
• Pro-active approach, and the ability to meet deadlines
• Degree from a university or hotel school preferably in business administration or tourism/hospitality management
• Minimum of 4-5 years working experience in the international 5* luxury hotel or hospitality Conferences and Events
