Job Summary:
As a Home Care Nurse specializing in post-delivery care and newborns, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and baby during the early days following childbirth. Your responsibilities will include providing medical care, offering guidance on newborn care, and assisting with postpartum recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Postpartum Care:
Conduct thorough assessments of postpartum mothers, monitoring vital signs, and evaluating physical and emotional well-being.
Provide guidance on postpartum recovery, including wound care, pain management, and emotional support.
Assist with breastfeeding education and support.
Newborn Care:
Assess and monitor the health of newborns, including vital signs and developmental milestones.
Provide hands-on care to newborns, including feeding, diapering, and maintaining hygiene.
Educate parents on newborn care, including feeding techniques, safe sleep practices, and newborn hygiene.
Medical Procedures:
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the attending physician.
Perform routine medical procedures such as injections, wound dressings, and intravenous therapy as needed.
Patient Education:
Offer comprehensive guidance to mothers on postpartum care, including self-care, nutrition, and exercise.
Educate families on newborn care, infant hygiene, and infant safety.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
Communication:
Collaborate closely with the healthcare team, including physicians, midwives, and pediatricians, to ensure coordinated care for both mother and newborn.
Provide regular updates and communicate any concerns or changes in the patient’s condition.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification.
Previous experience in postpartum care and newborn care is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of postpartum and newborn health and development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs.
CPR and BLS certification.
