• Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ). Actively encourages and leads the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements.
• Ensures that relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and, in consultation with site management, HSE and Commissioning team, that HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable.
• Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS.
• Ensures that adequate precautions are taken to provide safety from the system whilst construction / commissioning work is carried out.
• Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised.
• Oversees installation of the HV switching equipment (11kV or higher in special circumstances) and LV switching equipment.
• Oversees the energisation of the equipment.
• Responsible for switching operations on the HV and LV switch gear and boards supplied by HZI and HZI Contractors.
• Prepares and manages safety documents (Safe systems of work) applicable to electrical activities on site. This shall include Switching schedules and Permit system
• Coordinates with the Site Manager / Commissioning Manager/ Site HSE Manager on all site related activities.
• Delivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects.
• Liaises with the District Network Operator (DNO) and Independent Connection Party (ICP) on all aspects of connections and switching on the network

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Must be experienced in mechanical and electrical lock out requirements, identification and control of energy resources).
• At least three (3) years minimum experience working in large scale construction projects in UAE.
• Recognized HSE background on large projects, preferably with middle east work experience.
• Experience in managing the PTW and LOTO systems on large projects.
