What will I be doing?

With the hotel’s strong brand presence and reputation in the global market, this position plays an important role in assisting the Line Manager in achieving key objectives in line with the annual PR and marketing plan, current initiatives and relevant activities relating directly to the hotel.

The PR and marketing team performs an integral role in bringing together all function areas to ensure commercial targets are heightened.

The role involves managing individual projects relating to marketing, media relations and internal communications and performing day-to-day administrative duties.

Specifically, an Assistant PR & Marketing Manager will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

1. Support the development and implementation of hotel PR, social media, marketing campaigns and promotional activities as well as internal and external communication requirements

2. Support the Line Manager with generating revenue for the hotel across all departments in line with annual PR, social media and marketing strategies and agreed budgets. This should include an analysis of key source markets and acting as the liaison with any source market PR agencies.

3. Execute research to obtain market and competitive insights to support and create PR, social media and marketing opportunities and positive media coverage

4. Support and assist the Line Manager in strengthening and building strategic customer, partner and media relationships

5. Awareness of Hilton Worldwide’s global story – along with brand and corporate key messages which must form the backdrop of all communications.

Business Function

• Coordinate and assist with delivering all agreed hotel PR, social media and marketing strategies and monitor on-going PR, social media and marketing campaigns performance and reporting as directed by the Line Manager

• Support the Line Manager by developing and implementing promotional activity, collateral and in-house merchandising as well as maintaining the hotel’s media library to include video, film and press coverage archives

• Create, develop and market key events for the hotel, especially during key business periods

• Promote and communicate effectively the hotel’s commercial activities to the media covering all food and beverage, spa, rooms and event promotions.

• Work closely across all hotel departments, seeking proactive opportunities and planned promotions to address specific business challenges, as required

• Support all internal communication activities including, but not limited to, regional and area updates, press release writing, newsletters and drafting speeches for company executives and assisting with senior management interviews with relevant preparation material

• Promote and support all marketing, social media and PR activities including special events, sponsorship opportunities, merchandising campaigns, exhibitions and property inspections

• Support the department with media relations involving tracking social media, updating press kits, archiving news releases and press coverage, maintaining media databases, coordinating interviews, and ensuring relevant administrative duties are completed in advance of media visits

• Organise and manage familiarisation trips for media professionals and entertain local media where appropriate.

• As a media liaison, source and pitch interesting, newsworthy stories relating to the hotel including, but not limited to MICE, F&B, rooms, spa, architecture and design, team members and corporate responsibility

• Assist with and, where required, lead on-site photos shoots and hotel filming whilst ensuring all relevant administration approvals are completed and confirmed

• Monitor and support Line Manager on all social media activities for the hotel whilst supporting departmental initiatives. Responsible for executing the social media strategy for the hotel and its outlets.

• Seek to grow social media followers and to enhance interaction with customers on these sites using relevant tools and techniques

• Respond to customer postings and manage online presence as appropriate tackling any complaints, opportunities and issues

• Be a brand champion for the hotel ensuring all collateral conforms to agreed brand standards, using the right tone and voice compliant with corporate guidelines

• Support and identify opportunities along with the Line Manager to grow and develop loyalty marketing activities with HHonors and other booker incentive schemes

• Execute and implement appropriate use of PR, social media and marketing content, creative resources, translation and photography while optimising an effective online presence in line with regional strategy

• Responsible for execution of all promotional activities, whether local, regional or global level, across all available channels, internal and external, ensuring brand adherence and effectiveness.

• Identify local partnership opportunities with the regional team, and oversee the on-going execution of revenue driving activities

• Support individual brand initiatives and ensure hotel brand campaigns are rolled out effectively and communicated using the right tone of voice for each segment

Managing Execution

• Support the Line Manager in executing effective content management across all available channels, including hotel website, OTAs, social media, affiliate networks, third party websites, mobile marketing and partnership programs

• Develop monthly reports on marketing, PR and social media activities highlighting results and next steps

• Develop, maintain and grow hotel databases to promote all hotel disciplines including targeted HHonors campaigns

• Be mindful and attentive of local news or stories affecting hotel business and inform line management swiftly and effectively on information which could impact the reputation of the hotel.

• Actively respond to requests for information about hotel

• Assist in developing reports on specific PR, social media and marketing initiatives and promotions

• Assist in reviewing third party website content, ensuring standards are met and information is accurate, creative and current

• Execute and report on competitive analysis on hotel, spa, C&E, food and beverage and eCommerce, PR, social media and marketing activities and maximise compatibility with public relations efforts

• Ensure hotel has appropriate PR, social media and marketing archives and content including up to date media lists, press kits, collateral, photo and video library, newsletters, brochures, desktop publishing and all matters relating to marketing, social media and PR

• Support and assist management in PR, social media and marketing projects including resources with budget implications

• Support all communications connected with hotel crisis and issues set out by the Line Manager

• Achieve agreed performance goals and objectives of role set out by Line Manager and complete any reasonable task given from the Line Manager in a responsible and productive manner

Building Relationships

• Establish and maintain effective rapport and open communication with all hotel disciplines

• Develop strong working relationships with various levels of Hilton Worldwide’s personnel including cluster and regional teams and comply to Hilton Worldwide core values

• Develop and manage working relationships with key members of the creative and media agencies.

• Work effectively within the hotel PR and marketing team as well as supporting all hotel departments including cluster and regional levels on PR and marketing campaigns

• Support the Line Manager to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all external customers to include key members of the media, community organisations, local and municipality government officials, local industry organisations as well as suppliers and agencies.

• Excel at being an effective team player in all aspects of the role

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Able to speak further key business languages.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, budget management and project and time Management

• Demonstrates an understanding of commercial awareness, able to adapt to changing priorities with key judgement and decision making skills

• Exhibits previous experience of written work in a communications role. Qualifications or courses relating to creative, descriptive or effective writing.

• Able to interact effectively, create solutions, influence others and work diplomatically with a wide range of individuals. Experience of working with media and design agencies.

• Ability to work under pressure at all times

Experience and Qualifications

• Educated to College level with previous PR, social media and marketing experience

• Previous experience of working in a PR, social media and marketing role for the luxury sector in the hospitality industry in the UAE.

• Experience of the main functions relating to PR, social media and marketing and in leading smaller projects

• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels of management

• Proven experience of working to and understanding key PR, social media and marketing disciplines, plans and strategies
