Gilead Sciences ME office is responsible for the company’s products in 12 ME markets including GCC, LEVANT and Iran.
We are seeking an Associate Director Marketing in our Liver/Invasive Fungal Infections and COVID-19 commercial organization supporting further growth of our well established Invasive Fungal Infections business and recently launched COVID19 medicine.
We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about our patient-centric approach and ensure that all patients who stand to benefit from this innovative medicine will have the chance to do so.
This role will report to the Liver, Invasive Fungal Infections and COVID-19 Business Unit Director and will be based in Dubai.
The Position
The Associate Director marketing will be directly responsible for Invasive Fungal Infections and COVID-19 marketing activities with one product manager directly reporting to she/he in order support tactical implementation of marketing strategy.
The incumbent strategically co-ordinates and implements marketing plans across functions, including marketing support for the distributor partner companies and collaboration with Medical, Sales, Market Access, Government Affairs, Corporate Communications and Finance departments to drive activities to achieve revenue and results objectives.
Specific Responsibilities
- Be responsible for oversight and strategic direction across several projects and Drive cross-functional product teams and key stakeholders within Gilead to ensure alignment on strategy and deliverables
- Collaborate with the distributor Sales & Marketing teams to ensure effective communication and implementation of marketing strategy, and solicit and use feedback to optimize marketing channels and communication messages across ME markets
- Develop various marketing materials across digital and traditional channels as well as relevant activities that support our commercial strategy for AmBisome and Veklury
- Demonstrate excellence in project management and effectively manage multiple projects and able to set priorities in circumstances of continued complex and conflicting requirements
- Leverage primary and secondary market research and analytics critical to directing brand strategies and optimizing marketing tactics
- Analyze complex problems and situations, provide logical recommendations, and lead any required action planning
- Take a lead role in representing the company at professional events and promote company products at such events
- Direct tactical plan development and implementation in collaboration with partners in assigned territory and is directly responsible on brand plan implantation in UAE and Oman (e.g., own Brand Plan of Action process)
- Assist in the Latest Estimate financial forecasting process, forecast revenue and expenses based on strategies and tactics defined in business plans.
- Manage and control portfolio-marketing budget within agreed profitability targets
- Collaborate with Medical and Market Access teams to ensure optimal interactions aimed to support product portfolio strategy and to ensure full availability of product portfolio at national/regional/local level.
- Ensure that all marketing activities are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements
- Role will require frequent travel across ME countries.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Essential
- Minimum of 10 – 12 years pharmaceutical experience with 5 – 7 years marketing management in a highly competitive specialty care therapy area.
- Must have product launch understanding and experience in pre-launch and market development work within specialty care.
- Prior experience in people management with direct report is strongly recommended.
- Must have excellent management skills including training, coaching, performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, recruitment and selection, meeting management and plan execution
- Must possess excellent strategic thinking skills with ability to formulate, develop and execute strategy plus the ability to see a clear picture to be able to focus on priorities.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among, individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing, and very good presentation skills, are required
- Must possess a demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement multidimensional marketing and business plans with ability to successfully perform complex budget management and revenue forecasting.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams or work groups as well as direct reports is required
- Must possess the ability to successfully develop external relationships leading to brand advocacy
- Experience/ability to interact within international matrix/context is preferred.
- Experience in managing advanced multichannel activities (e.g., apps, webinars, websites, e-detailing)
- High level of English skill both written and verbal.
- Experience in ME markets with deep understanding of Saudi market will be considered a plus
Desirable
- Typically requires an advanced degree such as an MBA or equivalent
- Experience in marketing products in the therapeutic field of Invasive Fungal Infections and/or Virology is desirable
- Previous sales team management experience will be considered a plus
- Arabic language will be considered a plus
