Job Purpose

An Internal Auditor & Accountant is responsible for keeping their employer accountable regarding internal company procedures and industry rules and managing financials /accountancy. Their duties include studying accounting records, preparing compliance reports, and supervising company workflows.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify accounting and financial record-keeping processes that can be improved.
• Evaluate financial documents for accuracy and compliance with federal regulations.
• Identify the financial risk of the organization and offer recommendations to reduce risk.
• Determine ways to cut costs and improve profitability
• Assess the efficiency and productivity of internal staff and make recommendations for improvement
• Present findings to upper management in the form of reports and presentations.
• Identify and assess areas of significant business risk.
• Implement best audit and business practices in line with applicable internal audit statements.
• Manage resources and audit assignments.
• Identify and reduce all business and financial risks through effective implementation and monitoring of controls.
• Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
• Managing income and expenditure accounts

• Generating the company’s financial reports using income and expenditure data
• Keeping a check on the company’s finances based on the financial status
• Develop, implement and maintain internal audit policies and procedures in accordance with local and international best practices.
• Compile and implement the annual Internal Audit plan.
• Conduct ad hoc investigations into identified or reported risks.

• Oversee risk-based audits covering operational and financial processes.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and timely audit information is reported to Management and/or Risk Committees.
• Overall supervision of planned annual audits.
• Assist in the development of the Annual Audit Plan (AAP) based on the results of the risk assessment exercise.
• Provide input for the periodic reporting on audit activities and performance relative to its plans, significant risk exposures, control/governance issues, and other related matters.
• Determine auditing procedures to be applied, including the use of Information Systems Audit Techniques, statistical sampling methods,s or others.
• Ensure that adequate working papers and all relevant information are continuously documented and updated in the automated Audit Management System in accordance with pre-defined templates and audit procedures.
• Appraise the adequacy of the corrective actions taken by management on audit recommendations through follow-up audits and periodically review and update the status of management action plans.

• Prepare audit report with the conclusion, expressing professional opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, control systems, and the efficiency with which activities are carried out. Recommends improvement options to rectify reported deficiencies, for Team Leader / Department Manager’s review.
• Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Internal Auditor Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/ Auditing or relevant discipline in internal auditing, financial accounting, or financial management (essential).
• Certifications (e.g., CA, ACMA, CIA, ACCA, CIMA).

• 3+ years of work experience in an internal audit environment/auditing experience.
• OR 3+ years of Accountant – Bank reconcile / cash flow & account payable.
• Accreditation with the Institute of Internal Auditors.
• Exceptional accounting skills.
• Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and IT skills.

Professional Certifications

• MUST: Audit Certifications (e.g., CA, ACMA, CIA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Work Condition, Physical effort & Work Environment
• Normally air-conditioned environment however exposed to prevailing weather conditions while in the operating sites/field visits.
• Should have excellent and proven presentation and communication skills.
