Detailed Description

• Designs the overall power systems and development of Electrical plans, drawings, installation details, wiring diagrams and fabrication drawings.
• Performs specification and selection of electrical equipment to meet project criteria.
• Performs bid evaluations of mechanical and electrical equipment and makes recommendations for award.
• Plans and participates in factory and/or site inspections and acceptance testing.
• Supports labour and material estimates for projects.
• Supports project management personnel with regular reporting, scheduling, staffing planning and coordination.
• Initiates communication between the project team and the Electrical Engineering and Electrical Design team members to assure quality of work and ensures that consistent technical content is maintained for drawing and design packages throughout the project.
• Maintains technical integrity.
• Delivers and supports a strong HSE culture.
• Works within budget and schedule limits.
• Assists other disciplines to achieve their goals.
• Supports Management where required.
• Participates in relevant meetings, such as HAZID, TBE, Design Reviews and PEER Reviews.
• Takes full cognisance of Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
• Liaises and interacts with other disciplines to ensure overall project goals are met.
• Utilises suitable technology to increase efficiency.
• Ensures all deliverables are aligned with company and client procedures and national standards
• Keeps up to date with latest procedures, client requirements and legislation
• Coordinates site surveys as required.
• Conducts field studies of electrical equipment and facilities, and preparing recommendations regarding the most cost effective and safe way to upgrade existing facility and to install new facilities.
• Assists construction groups in supervising construction, testing, calibration and commissioning of electrical installations related to assigned projects, to ensure conformity with specifications, drawings, safe engineering standards, codes and practices.
• Justifies execution methodology.
• Develops design philosophy, engineering documents / drawings / bill of materials.

Skills / Qualifications

• University Degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant Masters.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience of which 8 years must be related to the oil and gas industry.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English as a minimum (Russian and Italian would also be an advantage).
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards applicable to the Oil & Gas/Refining industries.
• Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments.
• Ability to use ETAP, SKM, or other power system study software.
• Conversant with relevant international standards and Codes or Practice.
• Experience with the design of Generators, switchgear, transformers, motors, cables and other electrical equipment for high, medium and low voltage systems, equipment installation and commissioning procedures, power system and transient stability studies, equipment sizing, requirements for electrical installation in hazardous areas, lightning systems.
• Worked in an EPC environment.
• Strong ethical standards. High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative.
• Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and is dependable. Accountable for results. Adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of projects. Team player that works well with supervisors, subordinates, peers and clients.
• Ability to initiate the exchange of required technical concepts and information with the Electrical Engineering staff and other disciplines.
