Job Purpose

Cargo Compliance & Authorisation Manager will be responsible for management of the SkyCargo express trade compliance and customs clearance functionas well as the express authorisations and approvals team.
You will monitor operational activity against compliance and authorisations, highlighting areas of non-compliance manage issuance of relevant approvals and recommend opportunities for improvements. The position monitors multiple global outsourced teams and leads their day today functions and taking timely decisions to protect the Skycargo Business and Brand Image.
In this role, you will:
– Design and validate processes for legal and trade compliance as well as reviewing and providing authorisation for all express products and commodities
– Develop and maintain a corporate policy and required processes to govern the implementation and management of embargoes and other legal and trade compliance regulations, including customs clearance, export controls, re-exports and dual use goods across the network. Conduct change management processes and risk assessments to support the business requirements with new/changed compliance legislations, interline agreements and authorisations being issued.
– Managing the customs clearance and trade compliance teams to ensure right decisions are taken and fully in coordination with network stations, group legal and regulatory bodies. Investigate the trade and compliance issues from partners and work on a sustainable CAPA programme.
– Manage compliance system(s), possible vendor(s) and coordinate with the support team for day to day functions and system enhancement to ensure Skycargo express requirements are continuously fully protected with the solution(s) provided.
– Coordinate with the network managers to keep a close watch on the political and regulatory sanctions reviewed and immediate action taken to ensure full compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
– Degree in Business Management/ Supply Chain management
– 8+ years of experience with compliance related activities in the cargo/logistics industry or financial industry
– Thorough knowledge of trade compliance, cargo embargoes, export controls, dual use goods and validations.
– Knowledge and understanding of IATA regulations.
– Ability to ensure strict enforcement applying a Customer centric style.
– Preferably knowledge of regulations related to the handling of dangerous goods and live animals. Knowledge of change management and risk assessments
