JOB PURPOSE:To manage the development, negotiations, contract management, relationship, and implementation of the export logistics commercial solutions including shipping, freight forwards, trucking, export documentation and other ad-hoc associated logistics services working alongside and to support the logistics operations. In doing so, coordinating activities and controls efficiently and effectively and ensure that the related tasks are completed in accordance with terms agreed upon with service providers, in order to provide the most efficient and cost-effective means of transportation available.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Export Shipping Contracts (shipping lines, transport companies, forwarders, warehousing, and trucking distributers)Leads the effective coordination for the development and maintenance of shipping and logistics services contracts in collaboration with Legal and Logistics Operations, to ensure the contracts are comprehensive, accurate and legally compliant.Policies, Processes &ProceduresRecommends improvements to the section policy and related IT systems and directs the implementation of procedures and controls and IT road maps covering section’s activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective services to customers In-line with requirement of ISO/TS 16949.Develops, monitors, and maintains the section business process procedures with compliance as established under quality standards.Creating EfficienciesContacts various shipping, transport and forwarding companies to determine the optimal routes at the most competitive rates for the company’s export and transport activities.Cost ImprovementOversees the monitoring of cost for dispatch of products to customers and highlights to the line manager in case of any variances or discrepancies in order to enable corresponding decision making.Recommends new process and cost improvement initiatives and expense reduction goals in export of products, to the management and oversees their implementation in order to decrease overhead liability for the organization.External Relationship ManagementCoordinates with external stakeholders such as shipping lines, transporter companies, ports and customs and freight forwarders and internal departments or functions as required, in order to enable effective building of relationship and effective managing of section operation.Ensures that customer requirements are fully, understood, addressed, implemented, and maintained.Ensures customer complaints are effectively closed within stipulated time and communicated to customer.Ensures contract review/ customer agreement and customer communication are recorded.Day-to-Day OperationSupervises the day-to-day operations of the section to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes, and procedures.CoordinationManages the following-up and coordination with the different internal functions and departments to gather and collect required information in order to help in the development of the relevant tender documentation and shipments.Regularly coordinates with the line manager in order to highlight any critical issues/challenges faced in the section in order to ensure these bottlenecks are cleared on time and operation continues as planned.Training and DevelopmentCoordinate the development and delivery of technical training programs are updated and that relevant staff in each section are provided with the required knowledge and skills.Ensures that new trainees are correctly trained and developed to build a talent pool to timely meet future business requirements.Records ManagementEstablishes a system for storing all section data in a common area or repository in order to enable ease of access for future reference and to support other sales sections to access the documents.People ManagementSupervises the activities and work of subordinates by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an effective manner and in accordance with set individual targets.Safety, Quality, & EnvironmentEnsures compliance to all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures and control across the section in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.Related AssignmentsPerforms other related duties or assignments as directed.AUTHORITY/ DECISION MAKING: Thinking within clearly defined policies, principles, and specific objectives, under readily available direction.Work is subject to periodic review against targets with the focus being on the delivery of medium-term results.Reports on a regular basis to line manager on operational activities, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related specialization.Minimum Experience:6-10 years’ relevant experience in logistics or shipping in a similar industry including at least 5 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities.Skills:Good knowledge of the shipping and logistics industry.Knowledge on the market trends on vendors for freight management, delivered costs, etc.Knowledge of logistics planning and control, inventory control an allocations and handling activities.Knowledge of commercial and operational systems/processesGood Knowledge of the Sales and Marketing process flowsKnowledge of ISO/TS requirement for Marketing& sales and casting OperationKnowledge of effective root cause analysis and customer complaints
