e.construct designs structures such as bridges, high-rise design, commercial facilities design, precast concrete engineering, and post-tensioning design. We are a multi-disciplinary engineering design firm with specialized design and value engineering services. The firm’s core work is holistic at its approach, and it has divisions in structural, MEP, Geotechnical, and emerging construction technology such as 3D printing of concrete, technology, and 3D laser scanning.
Role Summary:
This role will demand a broad range of experience and knowledge to support design projects, and value-added engineering efforts, and to continuously enhance our engineering analytics group. Candidates will need to have the ability to balance efforts on multiple projects simultaneously that will include forensics-style engineering analysis and advanced design engineering. Innovation is key and we encourage the development of new solutions and technologies in-house.
Design: You will be responsible for the design of facilities related to electrical systems across a variety of markets including high-rise residential, education, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, science, and technology industries. You will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multi-discipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages through construction documents. This will include the preparation of electrical (MV/LV/ELV/AV) designs, calculations, analysis, estimates, reports, and specifications for building and facilities projects.
VE & Analytics: Our engineers are also responsible for performing advanced engineering analysis and value-added engineering. This will include developing optimized and cutting-edge solutions to address clients’ unique challenges. Candidates will be expected to have an innate drive to learn and expand their skillset including utilizing current industry tools or developing new in-house solutions as required. Efforts will typically be carried through to full design/redesign and can begin anywhere from the concept phase to the final design.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments to apply existing knowledge, skills, and abilities for further professional development.
• Develop specifications, design drawings, calculations, and other contract documents through all phases of design.
• Identify and effectively meet the requirements and expectations of clients.
• Perform complex tasks with minimal direction and/or supervision, using engineering concepts and strategic objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
• Evaluates the feasibility of alternative design approaches in conjunction with senior team members.
• Execution of construction administration services, including review of shop drawings, RFI’s, and review of contractor proposed change orders.
• Proposes an approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments. Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Performs work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Ability to execute design work in AutoCAD & REVIT as required.
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
• Have a strong foundation in international and local electrical codes (DEWA & ADDC), IEEE, IES, NEC, API, ASHRAE (energy codes), NFPA, and ICC codes, in addition to experience with analysis and layout of electrical systems and local Fire/life safety codes (Dubai Civil Defense)
• Preparation from concept to IFC drawings in the following disciplines lighting, small power, power distribution, ELV systems, Fire Alarm & Public Address, etc. in coordination with other disciplines.
• Proficient in performing calculations such as power cable/bus ducts’ voltage drop & short circuit, lighting Illumination, load schedules, and single line diagram.
• Meet with clients, and prepare proposals and presentations while maintaining good client relations
• Ability to solve problems using sound judgment, creativity, and innovation.
• Follow company standards and procedures including design and checking.
• Good planning, organizational, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position.
• Ability to switch between work on multiple projects daily.
• Be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and take pride in your work.

Minimum Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• 4 or more years of relevant experience designing a wide variety of commercial, high-rise residential, and industrial designs for buildings and facilities.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is a must for all levels including the ability to perform design work in CAD as required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills are a must.
• Experience in power system studies using EasyPower, SKM or ETAP
• Proficient with specifying, and designing installations, & protective relay settings for medium voltage electrical equipment (motors, transformers, switchgear, MCC, VFDs)
• Experienced with 400/230V and below power electrical equipment: (switchgear, MCC, transformers, VFDs, etc.) and calculations: Conduit Fill, Cable Tray Fill, Voltage Drop/short circuit, Transformer Sizing, Feeder/Conductor Sizing, load schedules, lighting (LUX) levels, Overcurrent Protection Device sizing, Motor controls, lighting controls, Lightning Protection/Grounding, Fire alarm/Public Address systems, etc.
• Experience in SKM, AGI Lighting Software, Amtech Pro design, CTcalc.

• Experience should be in systems associated with MV/LV/ELV/AV design.

• Advanced Degree
• LEED-AP certification
• Candidates from North America, UK, or the EU are welcome.
• Cost estimating experience.
• Licensed Engineer (applicable countries)
• The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in one or both of the following platforms: AutoCAD, and REVIT.
• Candidates will be expected to build upon base skills to develop advanced proficiency in both AutoCAD & REVIT.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following software suites, or equivalent, is desired: Autodesk Navisworks, Caneco ONE, Ecodial, Simaris, DIALux/DIALux EVO, Relux.
