An exciting opportunity for a candidate with a solid background in freight forwarding to join our team in the Dubai branch in the Air & Sea department.

The Director’s key responisibilty is to focus on Customers, Quality and Development. The Director should develop and foster customer relationships and provide best in class customer service within the Region and adhere to corporate strategies and policies and to the applicable laws.Co-Responsible for the Regional Projects EBIT and optimize the transactions, increase revenues and co-manage costs optimally with Country MDs and c0-lead the Country Teams.

Detailed Responsibilities: D

SV operational activities of the Dubai office.

• Co-Responsible for the EBIT.
• Continuously strive for high productivity, competitive efficiency and best quality.
• Fully adhere to all defined global processes, policies and Project standards and to local law.
• Develop and foster customer relationships and provide best in class customer service within the country.
• Adhere to corporate strategies and policies and to country law.
• Optimize the transaction, increase revenues and reduce costs.
• Co-Lead theTeam, including Operations Managers and staff.
• Centralization to the maximum and continuous strive for back-office efficiency to avoid doubling-up of activities.
• Ensures strict adherence to DSV Code of Conduct.
• Responsible for all DSV operational activities and coordination.
• Prepare the local quarterly report meeting presentation and KPI review.
• Co-Responsible for the financial results and the continuous supervision of the financial status, including activities in the field of accounting, financial controlling and strategic planning.
• Prepare the local budgets together with detailed documentation according to the instructions issued by Corporate Controlling.
• Develop and maintain customer relationships as appropriate to assure effective communication flow.
• Assure the standardization of processes, structures and systems.
• Hold and attend weekly management meetings.
• Manage communication and operations within MENA and Global Network.
• Systems improvements & operational improvements.
• Liaising with clients, vendors and suppliers on status updates & overall reporting.
• Responsibility for budget and business performance on country level
• Coresponsible for Cost saving and cost controlling.
• Ensuring all invoices are submitted with minimum delay and quality
• Understand and ensure adherence to DSV Quality Policies, Standards and Guidelines.
• Responsible for the supervision of personnel matters, with particular emphasis on staff training and career planning, including the identification and development of employees for further group wide roles in cooperation with local HR
• Ensure the adherence to instructions, policies and guidelines defined by Global Process Owners and corporate functions.
• Ensure a regular and consistent information flow to the Regional Management.
• Other tasks assigned by EVP.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

• Participate in country-level review meetings regarding quality, health, safety and environment action plans, activities and performance
• Review and approve all relevant country-level objectives & targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment
• Evaluate strategic and operational risks and opportunities to country-level operations and business interests regarding quality, health, safety and environmental topics, including environmental and workplace health and safety regulations.

Skills & Competencies:

• Good strategic and planning skills, ability to translate strategy to operational plan and execute
• Proven track record in People management and Leadership Skills (knowledgeable in Recruitment Selection/Training/Development/Coaching/Conflict Management/Performance Management)
• Good communication skills (open and confidential communication style)
• Solid know how in change management and innovation (analytical, systematic, creative, inventive)
• Strong decision-making capabilities and high accountability
• High result orientation and customer focus
• Ability to integrate and coordinate efforts/resources across functions and boundaries
• Management and organizational skills (prioritize, plan, assign, delegate, control)

Qualifications & Characteristics:

• Higher education level in Forwarding and Business Administration
• Management experience (minimum 10 years)
• Relevant work experience (minimum 10 years)
• Industry experience (minimum 15 years)
• Preferably international working experience
• Knowledge about markets & competitors, about trends & challenges for our industry
• Business Acumen (understands principles and language, incl. the fundamentals of finance and profitability.
• Functional know-how in air / ocean / logistics / SCM
• Has an overall understanding of business processes and independencies
