The Senior Accountant performs more complex accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organisation’s financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirementsKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReconcile more complex accounts and check the accuracy of journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete. Check and analyse financial information and prepare more complex financial reports and accounting statements so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions. Complete reports that include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports, and filings. Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities. Coach less experienced accounting staff and help them resolve problems. Complete assigned daily ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up to date. Complete monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements. Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance. Prepare analysis of accounts as requested. Assist with year-end closings & assist in preparing budgets and forecasts. Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures as well as with preparation and coordination of the audit process. Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making. Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.POSITION REQUIREMENTSWORK EXPERIENCE A minimum of 3-5 years working experience in related field. Experience in margin lending, Contract for Difference (CFD) trading, brokerage, and general trading within the financial industry is essential. Prior experience working in a financial institution, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of margin calls, and proficiency in managing high leverage products.
