Cost Controller
THE ROLE:
Guarantee the accuracy of operational costs debited to the group and maintenance of Operational Group tariffs database,
Monitor and control agents’ costs to provide a true and exact view of the financial assets of the company.
Perform ongoing monitoring of Cluster location entities to challenge and bring them back to good practices in compliance with the Groups’ policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handle Cost/Volume Variance Analysis for a cluster – coordinate with cluster, operations and Levant Regional Office cost controller .
You perform a systematic analysis of the operational lines costs (shipping costs and handling costs) as well as logistical costs for the Cluster .
You perform regular controls on agencies by identifying which are the most costly using relevant KPI.
In addition, you develop and optimize the process of reducing the variable costs in the area, including THC (Terminal Handling Charges) and D & D (Demurrage & Detention).
Willing, you regularly make suggestions which could improve the local revenue.
Finally, you follow up the proper implementation of the internal audit reports’ recommendations.
Perform relevant calculations and report group agility saving monthly basis for entire Dubai cluster
Assist SSC (GBS) to book cost with correct nature codes (D codes) – after coordinating with DRO and LRO
Providing volume forecast for terminals (having rebate arrangement) to DRO enabling proper rebate claim for the year and reduce additional cost
Proper analysis of the miscellaneous invoices received, identify the reasons for these costs and billing back the same to responsible parties thus reducing its impact on the company.
Cost Simulations – Assisting the procurement team in selecting the best rate slab for the upcoming contracts based on various factors such as the net cost impact on the company, Net to Pocket revenue (NTP), volume commitments etc.
Provided quantitative & qualitative data for the formulation of management reports.
Monitor the Regional cost saving program budget and performance
Perform Cost Control mission in the network to find initiatives.
Maintain and optimize tools to improve their performance and maximize automation of P2P cycle (e.g. VCR).
Assist DRO procurement team with relevant information enabling them to effectively negotiate contracts with trade vendors
Perform regular accrual review to check abnormal estimates (APL).
Setup new operational contract in Group systems – ACE – APL LLC.
Effectively involve in vendor disputed matter and internal delays in invoice approval
Follow ups with back-office team on a timely and accurate manner in respect to process payment and ensuring that the targets are met.
Approve invoices in Ocean whenever is required .
Actively participated in cost control audits from LRO.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
5-10 years of experience in the Finance/Accounting area with minimum 3-4 years in similar capacity.
University Degree in Finance / Accounting or Chartered Accountant Certification.
Organizational and Time management skills, multi-tasking and prioritizing, planning activities to meet deadlines and goals.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Well organized, focused on routines, very strong commitment to meeting deadlines and flexibility with regards to working time is an absolute requirement.
Strong understanding of local business practice.
Excellent MS office skills. Must be an advanced level Excel user and quickly be able to acquire solid skills in corporate and local IT applications
