Job Responsibilities:
Ensuring timely payments of invoices by regularly following up with the customers.
Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities. Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
Review AR aging to ensure compliance, follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash etc.
Generate age analysis, monitoring debtor’s balance to ensure reduction of DSO and BDP.
Following Cigna’s established Credit Control policies, follow-up schedules and procedures.
Liaising with business partners, internal and external customers and maintaining accurate records.
Negotiate with clients on payment extension requests, investigate and respond to client relevant enquiries, reconciliation of statement of accounts.
Starting legal proceedings if clients do not pay their debts as per agreement. Reconcile bank statements and posting receipts to accounting systems.
Communicate with customers via phone, email, mail or personally.
Assist with month-end closing, collect data and prepare monthly metrics.
Report to management on outstanding issues, whilst highlighting potential debtor problems.

Prerequisites:
5 years of experience in credit control preferably in insurance industry.
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in accounting or related field.
Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
Proficient in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Advanced abilities with Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to listen and negotiate with customers.
Confidence to deal with a range of stakeholders.
Excellent time management skills and ability to priorities a demanding workload.
Analytical skills and thorough attention to detail.
High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
Motivation and strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.
