What you’ll be doing

As Tax Associate, you will be responsible for assisting the VAT manager with VAT health checks, VAT compliance procedures, issues identification and resolution, and monthly/quarterly VAT return filing

Job responsibilities:

Organizational:

• Ensure VAT policies, processes and standard operating procedures are carried out appropriately by accounting and commercial departments

Operational:

• Under the supervision of VAT manager, ensure that VAT compliance department objectives are met
• Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure case/issue is closed efficiently and in a timely manner
• Follow VAT health check audit procedures to ensure core accounting processes of AP, AR, treasury etc are compliant with VAT policies and guidelines set by the Group
• Review transactions and documents to ensure compliance with VAT regulations and escalate incorrect VAT treatment
• Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills
• Communicate with tax authority when required in Arabic
• Support with VAT return preparation and filing
• Support with VAT reconciliations with accounting records
• Demonstrate good organizational and project management skills

What you’ll need to succeed

• At least 1 year of experience in a Tax/VAT role in the UAE/GCC
• A bachelors/university degree in a relevant field
• A Tax/VAT qualification/diploma (UAE/GCC related)
• VAT Compliance experience
