1. JOB PURPOSE:This role will advise on best practices and provide support in the environmental, sustainability and waste management areas, undertaking a wide range of activities including providing expert environmental advice to operational sites and projects, lead development of technical reports (e.g. environmental and social impact assessment studies, environmental and social management plans, environmental scoping reports, environmental and social due diligence, ESG reporting), maintaining and improving the environmental management system, undertaking environmental audits and monitoring environmental KPI’s performance on OpCo level.2. KEY RESPONIBILITIES:• The inclusion and knowledge of relevant environmental National & International legislations and industry standards related to health, safety and the environment• Experience in implementation of ISO 14001:2015 for energy and utility organizations in the region• Experience in GHG reporting, forecasting and target setting for leading organisations• Previous experience in handling projects that enhances organizational performance through the implementation of sustainability measures such as Net Zero targets, green energy utilization, climate change mitigation, GHGs & air pollution reduction, circular economy etc• Support in identifying industry-leading practices and key initiatives to support overall ESG practices including energy efficiency etc• Relevant expertise in developing environmental policy, procedures, and strategic roadmaps to deliver compliance, safety, and efficiency.• Expertise in driving HSE culture improvement and HSE Management System implementation for energy and utility facilities• Relevant experience in environment risk management/ Audit practices• Relevant experience in conducting and managing HSEIA Studies• Relevant experience in developing sustainability-related documentation using international best practices such as ESG reporting• Certification from a recognized HSE institution/ international standardization organization• Drives environmental strategic thinking and action across the business line organization• Monitor compliance against documented Environmental requirements through a systematic regime of the compliance audit, performance monitoring, and front-line inspections. Establish acceptable monitoring and measurement tools, set objectives and measurable goals through acceptable statistical analysis• Monitor, identify and communicate to the sites within the business line new and emerging local and applicable environmental regulations and requirements, including interpretation of their impacts on the business plan and provide solutions for adherence in a cost-effective manner; provide updates as necessary to reflect changes in the legal and other regulations of the list of regulations applicable to the company’s operation• Lead investigations of significant environmental incidents, and non-compliances and ensure the sustainability of corrective actions across the business lines are maintained and effective• Participate in project HAZID, HAZOP, PHA studies, and major environmental surveys such as Environmental Performance Assessments, and Occupational Health Risk Assessments and actively seek to resolve any findings from these surveys• Apply knowledge in the environmental improvement processes, and effectiveness, reduce and manage risks, provide guidance, and influence processes and procedures• Ensure sites within the business line identify environmental risks through the aspects and impacts or other risk reviews (e.g. ENVIDs) including identification of controls and objectives and targets to ensure those risks are managed• Develop and oversee plans to meet business Objectives, Targets and Goals aligned to the corporate strategy• Review MOCs related to the Environmental as applicable to assess related risks and ensure proper mitigation• Assist Operations management in the preparation of environmental documents or plans, project kick-off meetings, constructability reviews, and readiness reviews, among others, as applicable• Provide/Review environmental inputs on technical Bids, and proposals as required• Prepare Management reviews including detailed statistical objectives and key performance indicators and continual improvement programs for the business line• Write format reports, and environmental articles for Project publications and develop/deliver presentations• Assist in the development of various environmental programs and best practices• Monitor and advise facilities for conformance to environmental activity plans• Builds and maintains highly effective relationships with the OPCO HSE, Projects, Procurement and Operations teams within the OpCo’s, as well as contractor companies’ staff.• Conduct environmental audits and inspections, documenting findings and recommending risk reduction actions and controls• Facilitates awareness sessions (forums, workshops) to raise awareness on Environmental initiatives, regulatory requirements and expectations• Supports the roll-out and embedding of the TAQA HSE Management system, Essential Safety Rules and other HSE Standards across the T&D OpCo’s projects and contractor activities• Maintains a high level of awareness of the regulatory regime and industry initiatives as relevant• Perform other similar or related duties, as required by the Line Manager.• The position requires the flexibility to travel to TAQA OpCo’s and contractors’ facilities across the UAE.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Minimum Qualification▪ Bachelor’s degree in (environmental) science / management / technology or in an engineering discipline▪ Master’s degree or above is a plus▪ Trained and experienced as ISO 14001 standard lead auditorMinimum Experience▪ Candidate must have prior experience (at least 10 years) in working with energy, environmental and sustainability management projects in similar industries, preferably within energy and utility organizations in the region▪ Candidate must have relevant background in energy and environment including GHG, Energy Efficiency, Sustainability etc▪ Must have good communication and report writing skills as well as strong familiarity with relevant applicable standards▪ Experience in coordinating activities with remote teams by networking and utilizing personal influencing skills▪ Experience in data analysis, trending, and technical writing.▪ Proven experience in EIA studies, environmental audits, inspections, hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.▪ Thorough understanding of key legislation and regulatory framework as applicable to the environmental topics.
