The Collection Officer is responsible for the collection of outstanding debts, by contacting clients and informing them of their debts, negotiate payment plans, and ensure payments are made as soon as possible.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReview the company debtor list. Contact customers via phone, email, or letter to pursue outstanding payments and informing them of their overdue bills. Regularly reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Negotiate payment plans with customers who are unable to pay their full balance immediately, while adhering to company policies and guidelines. Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers to address inquiries, resolve disputes, and provide payment options. Update and maintain accurate records of all collection activities and customer interactions. Generate and analyse reports on accounts receivable aging to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies related to debt collection practices. Work closely with other departments, such as Sales and Customer Service, to resolve customer issues and improve the overall collections process. Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.POSITION REQUIREMENTSWORK EXPERIENCEA minimum of 1-3 years working experience in related field.EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION Highschool DiplomaSKILLS/BEHAVIOUR ATTRIBUTES Knowledge of debt collection laws, regulations, and best practices. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and reconciling financial data. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and follow through to resolution. Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
